I don't know if, even with perfect guidance, Brook could ever get to the top of the welterweight division, or at least reach the level of someone like Berto. But I do think that having him follow the typical Warren route of facing guys who are brought in to lose and then getting a vacant WBO title fight means that he'll never reach the top.
He's young and nobody can be certain about the future, but right now it seems he'll end up facing overmatched opposition for an extended period of time before being upset by a B-level fighter he underestimated, or being soundly beaten when he does finally face the top dogs. The classic British way, sadly.
