Really hooters and Wild Wings dont show it?

Well i live in NYC and only once have i walked into a bar to watch a boxing PPV, for the bar not to be showing it. Then i told them to turn on the fight and they ordered it.

Honestly what I do whenever I'm outta town etc and want to catch a fight, Is do a search on the net for local bars and call them one by one till I find a place that is showing it.

If your in the Dallas Metropolitan Area, then I know for a fact there are sports bars that show them.

Buffalo WW and Hooters may not show them, I agree with you on that, but places like Hooligans, and various other bars do.

I caught the Cotto vs Clottey fight, Hatton vs Pacquiao and other cards at those places, and the atmosphere was very good (People where extremely hyped for those fights)

I think you just gotta put in more work and call around. I usually get 4-5 no's before I get a few places that are showing them.

yeah but I stayed home and ordered. I called because I enjoy the atmosphere, but I was to lazy to make the trip. I will tell you it's one helluva bargain as the most I ever had to pay was 5 bucks, even for big ppv events.

On the other hand every sports bar or bar in town shows PPV UFC events. To me that is the main reason that UFC does so good with its PPV numbers. Is it b/c the bar attracts the frat boy type guys that just love watching street fights or what ? There is probably 20 places around town last week that were showing the UFC PPV event. So if there is 20 around here, that means there has to be hundreds of thousands of bars around the US that probably get them, therefore giving UFC good numbers. The week before me and some buddies had to go to the theatre to watch the Marquez PPV b/c there wasnt any bars showing it around here.

What about other places, do you guys get boxing at the bars ?

A lot of them still do. Usually there's a cover charge though. I prefer to watch it at home because in a bar you can't hear anything and I like to hear the commentary.

Because bars are full of drunk dumbasses that only watch mma, and I say this as someone who occasionally watches mma

In Richmond, VA, they NEVER show boxing at "sports bars". They will show some FNF's with the sound turned way down and then switch it to something else like a game show or poker without a second thought.

Someone told me that bars don't show PPV's because HBO charges them a ton of cash to air the fights. Instead of charging them a flat rate like they do homeowners, they charge them by the TV, so if they are showing the fight on 4 TV's, they get charged 4 times the price- they can't use one feed and put it on a splitter or something.

I don't know if this is true or not but that is what this one dude said a bar owner told him. I think the younger, bar crowd loves the MMA scene but that seems like it would create more violence in the long run with everyone rowdy and drunk. Boxing has more rules and supervision and less humping.

mma is pretty amazing, i don't see why so many people here waste there time hating on it, they must feel intimidated by it.

Bars have to pay over 1,000 dollars to license a PPV in their establishment. Doing so they want a return on their investment and a show like Marquez/Diaz won't do that. Only the major shows have a chance of attracting a crowd that bars want.
