Bradley: I still think this fight is too early.(New Interview)

    August 09, 2010

TIM BRADLEY: ALEXANDER "THE GREEN" NOT READY FOR ME
By Benny "Big Dog" Henderson Jr

"If Kotelnik did that to him, what do you think I'm going to do to him!"

Undefeated 140-pound WBO king Timothy Bradley 26-0 (11) has a few things to say to the boxing world, and ********** delivers that message to the fans. Read on to see what Bradley had to say about Devon Alexander, Amir Kahn, Zab Judah, as well as who is next on his hit list, enjoy.

Benny Henderson Jr.: Your thoughts on Devon Alexander and his win?

Timothy Bradley: "Man, to be honest I didn’t watch the fight, I was in Hawaii at the time on vacation, so I wasn’t really stressing about the fight, and I thought the fight was going to be relatively easy for Devon. But I get home and I am getting all these text messages and calls, people telling me Devon was getting caught and was looking bad and I was like really. Well, I got to watch the fight and it started off pretty well, but looks like Devon got tired, I never seen him like that, he still really hasn’t learned to relax yet in the ring. He looked like he was forcing everything; you cannot do that man that is a championship fight. You are throwing unnecessary punches, I don’t know man, I have always liked Devon and his skills and stuff, I hate the fact the he talks so much, but I wasn’t too impressed with this fight, if Kotelnik did that against him, imagine what I am going to do to Alexander. "

BH: I spoke with Alexander’s trainer before the fight, and he told me that all though they were not over looking Kotelnik, Team Alexander would sign to fight you that very night, and of course you seen the shirt they had made with your name on it, calling you out, your thoughts?

TB: To me that tells me that his head wasn’t even right, they were thinking about me before his fight against Kotelnik. I don’t care what they say they were looking to fight me, they were looking past Kotelnik, they were looking to get Bradley next, they were thinking about Bradley when Devon was in the ring fighting. (Laughs) That is the way it looks to me, they were thinking about me, already had a shirt for me, they were like Alexander is going to win this fight. That is a lot of pressure on a young guy, still today I have pressure on me, and I have more experience then him. This kid is a lot younger than me and HBO and everybody was blowing him up, saying he is the best in the division, well he is not, I am the best in the division. A lot of people feel like they can beat me, I am like please, Alexander is a great champion but he is still green to me, he has a lot of skills and talent, I have always know that, but why I haven’t I fought Devon yet, it is still to early. The two best fights that every wants to see is, Mayweather vs. Pacquiao and Alexander vs. Bradley, those are the two fights that people want to see. To only make a million off this fight, I think it is ridiculous, I am just throwing a figure out there, but I think a fight like this with three belts on the line a unification fight, it should be bigger than that. A lot of people don’t understand, they just want to see the right, but it is business. I still think this fight is too early.

BH: I know you are saying the Alexander is still too early, business is business, and business could be good, so what will it take to make the Alexander vs. Bradley fight?

TB: It just depends, it depends on everything. Depends on where the fight is at, basically the negotiations, if both sides agree then the fight can happen.

BH: Let’s just say this fight with Alexander doesn’t materialize, and we all know that there are a lot of names out there for you to fight, but who does Timothy Bradley want?

TB: Well, you know they have been talking about Khan, but you know dang well they are not going to send Amir Khan my way, not right now. You have a fighter like Zab Judah who had a good comeback fight, who would be willing to fight me, there are still some good names out there, Victor Ortiz is probably going to be my mandatory. There are a lot of good fights out there, but I don’t know man, I am unsure what is going to happen. Personally, if everything goes like I think it is going to happen the Alexander fight will happen, but I still think it is to early for Alexander, he is still to immature. Especially with him coming off a fight like his last fight, I dominate my fights.

BH: Anything you would like to add or say in closing of this interview?

TB: The fan know me, they know that I am willing to fight anybody, under the right terms, to my fans out there I love you guys, thanks for believing in me and for your support. And a big thank you to **********. And to Team Alexander, maybe you just had a bad night, but I tell you this much you better not have an off night against me. And thanks for making the shirt giving me free advertisement.

Seems like the negotiations for Jan 29 aren't going that well? Bradley says that Devon is too green for him. Good, fight him and win then.

A million isn't enough for him? I wonder what he thinks is a good number..........

Bradley needs to get over himself. He's a prospect just like Alexander.

Nobody is impressed with your little 3000k seat Casino "sellouts" Timmy.

Stfu and make the fight and lets start to thin this overrated division already.

He sees this fight as the second biggest bout that could be made. Personally it's top 4. I guess a few million would suffice. I actually agree wit him partially. This is a MEGA FIGHT. They should get at least more exposure first but **** it let's make it happen in January. The rematch an be even bigger.

These guys are getting on my nerves wanting to "build up" fights that aren't going to get any bigger. Do they think about...if I beat this guy then I can get that good following to market myself for bigger fights. It's like they keep fighting guys they know they can beat to build up fights, which takes too long, preventing the fights we want to see from happening sometimes. At least, Khan is fighting guys that are going to help build his following. Bradley just fought Abregu....damn Abregu...but a fight against Devon is too soon.

We don't want to imagine what Bradley will do to him, like he states. We want to see it.

He is right. This fight has a lot of potential, but Alexander's star has dimmed. They need to meet when they're both coming off huge wins and it will be a fight that HBO will put $4 million for.

I wanna see it ASAP just like everyone else...but Bradley is right.

"He looks like he's forcing everything".

Bradley is on point with that, if Alexander continues to over commit to punches, he's never gonna hurt nobody. Unless of course, his opponents run into the shot.
