You can compare it to a RJJ and Bernard Hopkins Rematch.

How many years overdue was that fight and it bombed while it could of been PPV top ten contender.

I'll say 2.7 million buys. That is a conservative estimate.

      A couple things to consider

      1. The reason De La Hoya-Mayweather became the #1 PPV ever was because they marketed it to become the biggest PPV ever. HBO has even greater expectations for this fight and will market it accordingly, especially since the guarantees will be high for both Pacquiao and Mayweather (regardless of what the split ends up being).

      2. There's a lot more mainstream interest in this fight, mostly because Pacquiao and Mayweather are the two best fighters in the world today and the perception is that it will be a competitive fight. Whether you disagree one way or another is a whole other story.

      3. This is the fight every sports fan is demanding. No one really demanded De La Hoya-Mayweather. That was the fight that made sense for business reasons (De La Hoya was on his way out and HBO/Golden Boy wanted to turn Mayweather into the new cash king) more than for traditional sports reasons.

      4. Both guys have more compelling stories than De La Hoya. Oscar was a cash-cow, but he was a fairly boring copy. What else can you say about him other than he was a great Olympian who eventually became a champion? For this one, you have the Mayweather family drama and Floyd's natural villain charisma, plus Pacquiao's congressional story, his rags to riches story, and his natural appeal as one of the most exciting action fighters in the world. Time Magazine and the New York Times covered the negotiations for a reason. Both guys are very compelling figures.

          2.5 million plus +

Once you guys see the 24/7's, all the hype will be back. I imagine (or hope) we'll get 6 24/7's instead of 4

i don't think it'll do much more than DLH/May, although 6 months ago it probably could have

it doesn't matter how it's promoted, the hype is there already.

this economy is depleted, and the fight will cost $79.99 on PPV...and $25 at the movies.

Because of the movie tickets, it MIGHT boost sales to 1.8-2 million. Absolutely no chance this breaks the record....simply because the economy is still in the ****ter, and isn't getting better any time soon.

I hope the PPV s$#s on DLH vs. Mayweather numbers.. (That BS fight)

I think it will, but like others have said, this ongoing circus is kind of killing it.

HBO should to a 6 series 24-7 special. Floyd should get up on Pacmans face and try to get under his skin.. That would be a sight..

Over 2 million is my prediction..

I think if they bumped up the price, the PPV numbers would drop. More fans and viewers would rather watch it at friends or a party setting IMO..

The higher the prices, the lesser the PPV numbers IMO.
