It seems that everyone's prediction is based upon their current feeling rather than a prediction amidst all the hype and anticipation.
How many PPV Buys do you think Mayweather vs. Pacquiao will actually generate?

It will pass the Oscar/Floyd and I'll tell you all why,
1) expect a much longer than ususal 24/7 maybe something like 6-8 weeeks in the buildup.
2) A much longer than usual promotional tour with both camps traveling internationally to ensure that every major city both domestic and abroad are visited. Europe and Mexico will tune in because both countries have had their warriors sacrified on national television with Hatton being left in a coma and balloning up to 225 lbs due to depression.
3) To top it all off Mayweather is undefeated and nobody will want to miss the opportunity of witnessing him lose for the first time in his career since the Olympics. It doesn't matter what we say or feel that will be history in the making. Older people still hate the fact that they missed Tyson/Douglas and 20 years later won't miss this one. This fight only has 2 possible scenarios. Mayweather either outclasses Pacquiao or Pacquiao Knocks out Mayweather and that alone is enough to push this one over the top.
4) ood vs Evil, A-side Meth vs Xylocaine. Every celebrity will attend. Floyd Landis and Lance Armstrong will be front row with Barry Bonds and Shane Mosley sitting adjacent to them. Cant't think of any other BS to throw in lol.Comment

Pacman beating Cotto and then Mayweather beating Marquez had a nice setup for the fight. Then things changed...
Pacquaio's big turnout for his fight with Clottey and then Mayweather's victory over Mosley brought back the sizzle. This time more so because Pacman showed up a bit "less than spectacular" vs a non punching Clottey and Mayweather showed that 2nd round vulnerability vs Mosley.
Now instead of making the fight right away, they are letting it fizzle off. However, the fire will be back once it is signed and announced. Assuming they keep winning.Comment

around 1.9m buys
if the fight took place on march, april or may, i think it would have done around 2-2.2m
the amount of buzz it had after pac beat cotto was unreal, even in the uk people were buzzing but now the hype has gone downComment

last March - 2m+
this november - 1.8 - 2m
next year - 1.6m - 1.8m
the fight is gonna cost upwards of $80. I don't think 2.5m people have that kind of money.
I'd watch it at the movies and sneak in a bottle of Remy Martin VSOP and be good. Most people I know would watch it at a bar, or ppv party.
there's no way this PPV hits 2m if it costs $79.99. If anyone has told u the economy is getting any better....smack the **** out of them.Last edited by NesNY; 08-09-2010, 01:35 PM.Comment
