Everyone quickly forgets he's only 23 years old. He's not even near his prime yet. Granted, the performance last night was average at best and there are some glaring holes in his game (namely the way he holds his hands far and apart from his head), but you shouldn't be abandoning ship just yet.

The Khan Kotelnik fight is not as bad for Kotelnik as people make it out to be. Khan just fought safety first and danced around the ring in his hometown for 12 rounds.
Lame ass fight.Comment

what do u guys mean by that?? Kotelnik is supposed to be made to order for devon. remember? kotelnik is ur prototype euro fighter. very solid defense but lacks the versatility. Devon was touted as the most skilled in the division and his supposedly very slick. but he got beat.Comment

let's not get carried away.
First off kotelnik is a great fighter. People tend to forget this because he lost to Khan fairly easily, but let us remember he's the only man to have beaten Maidina.
Secondly, this was Devon's first big test on a big stage like that. He's young & inexperienced. That may have played apart, especially considering they were already looking at Bradley, even had pre-made t-shirts that said bring on Bradley.
Third, like Burner said styles make fights. Just because fighter A struggles with fighter B doesn't mean he's going to lose against fighters C & D etc.
I think in reality what this does is shows that Alexander is not invincible and he still has much room for improvement. But the positive thing again is he's only 23 years old, he has a lot of time before he even hits his prime.
At the same time kotelnik deserves mad props and should be mentioned as one of the top guys at 140, instead of constantly being overlooked and rarely ever mentioned. Like I said he's a great fighter.
classifying kotelnik as a great fighter is getting carried away.Comment

people throw around the word great too easily. it dilutes actual meaning of the word & other truly great fighters greatness.
Castillo was a very good fighter. wont make it to the hall of fame. same thing with kotelnik.

Absolutely!! Alexander lost a fight against a top opponent, so what? Hes 23!
Thats what wrong with boxing today! One loss or bad performance and everybody is upset!
Its a sport like every other, sometimes you lose but Alexander on paper won the fight. He was never something special to begin with, dont know why he was so hyped to begin with. OK he has beaten Urango, a powerfull but verry slow and unskilled fighter with bad defence but Kotelnik was a big step up and Alexander was not ready for that. Hes 23 he will get better but hes not the new Floyd Mayweather!Comment

I called it a mile ago..kotelnik is much slower than Alexander and he showed him up. Styles or not, Bradley and Khan embarrass him..not a good night for Devon at all.Comment
