  • Proof Positive Mayweather is deserving of the p4p title

    I take no credit for the following (commentary from the p4p page on this site) but it seems to make sense...

    Facts are facts and based on results in the ring only (not media or fan voting...) Can you still say Pacquiao deserves a higher ranking?

    Titles - Pacquiao has made title claims in more weight classes generally (seven) and lineally (a record four) than Floyd (five and three).

    Wins over current and former titlists - Floyd (15) Pac (12)

    Wins over current and former lineal World Champions - Floyd (8) Pac (5)

    Wins in title fights - Floyd (19) Pac (13) as well as one loss and 2 draws.

    Common opponenets - Draw... wins over Oscar De La Hoya, Ricky Hatton, and Juan Manuel Marquez. What each man took out of those foes, and what mitigating circumstances might have existed, are open for debate. The results are not.

    Thinking from the perspective of a fan, Pacquiao might rate ahead. His fights are usually more thrilling, an electricity not seen since the heyday of Mike Tyson.
    Thinking clinically, Mayweather is the best technician since the prime of Pernell Whitaker.

    Where they have been on the scale is weighed against where they are right now and the right now wins. Where they are is Welterweight and both have shown to belong physically in the class but Floyd, of note, didn’t need any catch weights for his best win in class. Mayweather is the best Welterweight in the world until proven otherwise and in a choice between two active Welterweights, that’s enough for number one here.

              Floyd coming out of retirement, fought two aging champs one from Lightweight and another from welterweight;

              When he fought Shane Mosley then ranked #3P4P, and won by UD,

              Floyd was suddenly elevated to #1PFP,

              By-passing then #1P4P Pacman!

              There ought to be Main CRITERIA in the selection of #1PFP Boxer!

              When we say "Pound for Pound", the Best should be the one who won the most number of World Titles in different weight Divisions!

              A "world record" is more difficult to accomplIsh than a "Undefeated record"!

              Today there's only one boxer who holds the 7 world titles in diff. divisions;

              While there are many up and coming Boxers toting undefeated records!

              prettyBOY isn't the only boxer with UNDEFEATED records!

                Good for Floyd but how come he's too scared to fight?

                If Floyd is that good and even proclaimed himself as the greatest fighter of all time then why duck a midget fighter with inferior accomplishments compared to him?
