Clottey couldn't take out an old, defenseless, blown up lightweight in Corrales (RIP).
How would Clottey be able to stop Marquez? I see a possibility of a stoppage from cuts/swelling on Marquez's face.
I'm curious to see if Marquez's epic left uppercut will get through Clottey's guard.
Even if it could, Clottey's so tough and Marquez is so small that it would bounce off. Marquez could land counter right hand after counter right hand (although I doubt it, Clottey's very technically sound) and still not leave a scratch. If Clottey has the heart of a fighter, he'll want to come back after that disappointing - understatement - Pacquiao fight. And he will go hard after Marquez. The size difference is too much.
Clottey is a gigantic welterweight - Marquez is a very small lightweight. Do the math. Clottey lands and Marquez will drop. He'll never quit - he's too proud for that, but Clottey could knock him cold. He's not a big puncher - for a welterweight, but he's got heavy hands, and this would be a tragic, one-sided beating while it lasted.
Good post. Just shows you what a phenom Pac is, he came from a smaller weightclass than JM and totally shut down Clottey
