Baldomir is an easy win. i didn't even know baldo was still fighting. he was already looking as old as a dinosaur back when he got his shot on floyd. Isn't over 40 yrs. old now?

People get carried away by his age, judge him back the footage we see of him.
Cuevas' and Benitez' careers were also over by their mid 20s. They were exceptions.

besides, look at the top fighters nowadays and tell me how they were doing when they were 20?
the best guy Mayweather had fought was 6-3
Pacquiao had already been knocked out in 3 rounds
Andre Ward hadnt even turned pro
Wlad Klitschko hadnt even turned pro
      JMM had already lost
and none of these guys looked that great in the footage prior to that, even Mayweather had been cut and struggled a little with a 1-1 guy in his second fight.

I mean seriously, its rare for most future title holders to be anywhere near a title when they have just turned 20.
besides, Alvarez looks pretty decent to me right now.

Journeymen and subpar fighters.. Oh you mean the blueprint for all rising stars??? WTF.

pac had also been a world champ....
JMM had lost....by DQ...thats like saying Victor Ortiz had already lost before Maidana....

and you say those guys had short careers....wll last time i checked, alavarez has 35 fights at the age of 20, not a real fresh 20 year old, is he?

heres something I posted in another thread, on Alvarez's competition.
Euri Gonzalez-recently beat Cosme Rivera, former title challenger and someone who dropped Berto in the past.
Raul Pinzon-dropped Ricardo Torres(former WBO champ) three times and was leading the fight before Torres scored a comeback KO in the last round.
Jeferson Goncalo-Alvarez was the only one to KO him, and Goncalo has faced Hassan N'Jikam(#2 rated middleweight by boxrec) and Kheron Gevor(#7 rated middleweight by boxrec, #5 rated by Ring magazine)
Lanardo Tyner-Recently upset prospect Antwone Smith by TKO in the 9th
Miguel Vasquez-Went on to beat Breidas Prescott(the guy that KOed Khan)
Jose Cotto is also a former title challenger, and Alvarez's most recent fight against Luciano Cuello was a complete destruction, and Cuello gave JJC Jr a very tough fight.

Im not trying to say hes a world beater based on his record, but it looks fairly clear hes a step above most prospects already.

fair points. although I would still consider Alvarez a fresh 20 year old: hes kind of in his 'amateur days' as a pro boxer, Benitez and Cuevas very quickly started fighting top level guys, and that takes a toll on you at such a young age.

my point is that most of the best fighters of all time were still years away from a title shot after just turning 20.
...not that Im assuming Alvarez will become one of those, but I dont think its fair to judge fighters at such a young age. its extremely rare to find guys that are world level at or below 20 years old, even among ATGs

He is so young and has so much potential, he hasn't even gotten his man strength yet. When he's 25 he could be controlling the entire sport. No rush at all, he shouldn't even fight for a title until he's 22.

Are people really hating on a ***ing prospects now? Just because hes popular doesn't mean anyone has tagged him as the GOAT.

seriously you people need to calm the *** down.

I don't know why you thought the bolded would happen. Now, beating Baldo doesn't make him a world beater by no means. But the kid is young, talented and exciting. Let's see how his career moves along.
