I really think the only hold up is that Showtime not waiting until Donaire vs Montiel gets made. They should hold off until next year, let Arum cash in on his in house fight, and afterwards try to lure both in. If they do it this way, they will:

    1. Allow time to make sure this runs smoothly
    2. Possible work out a format to make it a 8 man tourney
    3. Work out any potential roadblocks such as locations, set up, and format

Donaire vs Montiel should happen no later than December 4th. and after that, It would be more to Top Ranks benefit to enter their guys, whereas pushing for it right now would not. I wish someone close to Showtime would tell them this.

He will. Just let him make his in house fight with Donaire vs Montiel. After that I guarantee you both will enter. I personally think its fair to give Arum time to do that because this fight add buys to either Pac vs Margarito and Chavez vs Cotto....along with added much needed exposure to both Donaire vs Montiel as they will facing off on a big stage.

I see what you mean but Bantam with a 6 man tourney would be awesome and it would be on Showtime Im assumng so that would bring alot of attention to a division that doesnt get any.

I prefer Moreno and Hasegawa over Darch and Agbeko though.

Also I really wish Shaw would shut the fvkk up. All of the b.s. he is spewing are just smoke screens from him not wanting to make Angulo vs Dzinzurik (because it was ordered by the WBO. Ever sense Donaire beat Vic, Shaw has been shook to risk his stars with other in house fighters.

It wont bring the exposure like fighting on the undercard of Pacquiao vs Margarito will. Again if Showtime waits till January or sometime early next year they will get both in. Not only that they could work on expanding it to 8 and trying to include both Hasegawa and Moreno. Time and patients is what will get this done and not rushing to kick this off this year (like Showtime is trying to do).

If its a 8 man wont it be elimination style? I seen Arum mentioning it not being elimination style as a problem. Maybe it going to an 8 man changes his mind.

If it happens on the Pac-Marg card thats still good but with Arums track record (Gamboa vs. Lopez comes to mind) it might not go down at all let alone on that card.

I think Donaire vs. Montiel is a PPV in itself and maybe Arum might see that.

While it's easy to see disappointment in this, I'm actually pretty happy to see Showtime is being aggressive and is really trying to build on what's been a pretty excellent idea (the Super Six).

I think the bolded later part may be the correct answer. FWIW think about this for a second; More than Likely Montiel will lose to Donaire. If that happens what is he gonna do? All the big names will be tied to the tourney, esp if they get Hasegawa....forcing Montiel to enter or face bums. Donaire doesn't give a fvkk and will enter as he will get the big names he has always wanted.

My perfect scenario would be this:
Let Donaire vs Montiel fight as either a Top Rank PPV or on the undercard of a Top Rank PPV this year.

Then let Darchinyan face another tune up at 118, Mares take a stay busy fight, and let Agbecko vs Perez happen as a preview to the Tourney. Then early next year, Showtime can try to lure the Top Rank guys as well as Hasa (who is eager to make a US debut) and Moreno (who will be the easiest to get in).

Again I wish someone would talk to that guy at showtime with this idea because this would be the best bet. As far as elimination style, I don't think that will be an issue as they can still do round robin due to these guys fighting a lot more frequently than SMW's. I think Arum doesn't want to be tied up as far as starting it now and stopping Montiel vs Donaire. After every thing is settle, starting it January basically forces Arum's hand as it will be to his advantage to get his guys in.
