Why did Mayweather turn down 8 million dollars to face off against Margarito?

I have never understood why people thnk Margarito is some big issue for Floyd, I jsut don't see it. I could be wrong but until I see that I am sticking to how I view it currently.

If Marge had the goods to beat Floyd...He would have put Shane in the hospital instead of getting KTFO.

Mayweather was offered the fight on different occassions, He was offered the fight before he fought Mitchell and again after he beat Judah for the IBF belt, Its difficult to grasp why he didnt take up the offer. Some would say its because he just wanted to duck Margarito, some would say it has to do with Arum's offer but who knows?

Fight the unified WW champion for 8 million and no strings.

Fight the WBO "champion" for 8 million and stay in a situation you aren't happy with??

it's funny how Floyd apologist justify his BUSINESS decision to fight Baldomir instead of Margarito. There's always an excuse for Floyd COWARDICE. Mosley, Cotto and Margarito all fought each while Floyd was hiding. And when he came he fought 2 dinosaurs who were merely looking for a retirement check. That should tell you about Floyd WANTING to fight for LEGACY. Worst hes taking a VACATION instead of 50 million. All his excuses simply lead to 1 thing, he need a pair of COJONES.

Bcause taking the Margrito fight locks him into Top Rank, do you think Arum would give him that kind of money (which was above his worth at the time) with no strings.

If his plan was to fight Oscar and if you were around at the time you would know that was what he was trying to do, taking the money with Top Rank would have been a ******ed move since it would cost him the De La Hoya fight which made him more in a single night than he made his whole career with Arum to that point.


Would you take 8 million today if it costs you 25ish million about a year in the future especially when you can fight Baldomir and make a similar ammount in the mean time with no strings.

This is why i dont really think he ducked Margarito, He would have to extend his contract and remove the get-out clause that he had in his contract with Top rank if he had accept the 8M from Arum.

Just like Cotto had to extend his contract with Arum to get the Pacquiao fight, Just like Margarito had to extend his contract with Arum to get the Cotto fight..Its business.

For the me the problem was beyond Baldomir or Margarito, Mayweather just didnt want to sell himself to Arum, He was able to get out of his contract because of Al Haymon, That why Arum still hate Haymon till to date.

What makes you think Margacheato would beat Floyd, when Floyd is better than Mosley at everything except Mosley has more power? Floyd would've put a clinic on Margacheato and won by UD.

Why would Floyd re-sign with Arum just so he could fight TR's own fighters for the amount of money Arum offers him?
