Looks like we won’t get the fight we all want, been hoping for, dreaming of – Manny Pacquiao versus Floyd Mayweather, Jr. Instead Manny’s corner apparently has lined up Antonio Margarito, but only after the Mayweather management camp has shown more ducks and feints than their boxer could have only hoped to possess.
Two years ago Margarito would have been a good fight, especially just after his mean fist-thumping of then undefeated Miguel Cotto. Unfortunately for Manny, this upcoming bout will have some “distractions" on account of Antonio’s boxing ranking and reputation being recently marred not only by his loss to Shane Mosley, but the claims that his trainer cheated by slipping some foreign substance into his hand wraps.
However, Manny is FIGHTING who he can get. Who else is....ummm?
Frankly, given the ongoing antics that exist in modern boxing, it is hard for one not to have a low regard for, or even despise, the current crop of boxing management or boxing promoters. Boxing has never been “clean” but it sure seems that before Don King, and pay-per-view, fighters fought and we enjoyed the execution of the sweet science just a little bit more.
In the same vein, Mayweather’s camp mantra of 'come pee in the bottle but, only when I tell you to jump' just reeks of old urinals, or a Don King-style tactic, while Manny’s camp apparently just wants to FIGHT!
Manny who could be looking to retire early on “accomplishments” - "not age or lack of ability." For he still possesses the ability to down anyone who dares enter the ring with him and, to his credit, is still taking on 'all comers' and FIGHTING who he can get.
FIGHTING who he can get is a good strategy for the PACMAN. By fighting his way through the 'willing ranks' the pressure only mounts on Mayweather as Floyd Jr. continues to looks increasing more silly, fighting no one while holding his little pee bottle up for all to behold.
By FIGHTING Margarito, regardless of his current ranking, Manny is proving he is willing to fight top flight opponents thus leaving one to wonder if Mayweather is still willing to do the same?
Are we wrong to want to see a fighter FIGHT? To his credit, Manny Pacquiao has never let his fans down in that category. The Margarito fight may not be the best fight one could have hoped for at this stage but, watching a real fighter fight anyone is better than watching his best possible opponent stand around, mouth open, holding a codpiece, and rambling on about pee-tests everyone knows were agreed to.
Manny, keep fighting until no doubt exists!
Manny, Lumaban ka hanggat sahuli ng walang alinlangan!
Fight Manny, Fight!
