This is a bs fight man. First we have to wait all the way until December, wtf, I want to see Cotto fight already...and Cotto gets no credit even if he KO's Chavez in round one...I bet Arum is hoping Chavez gets enough time with Roach by the time this fight happens to actually beat Cotto...Comment

dec 4 is cottos next fight date? he should be pretty fresh, minor damage from foreman plus 4 months good rest. a match with martinez would be a good technical battle. cotto may have problems with pressure fighters but he can outbox boxers.Comment

Cotto needs to get out from Arum's umbrella. He did a great job bringing Cotto up, but like his predecessors, he needs to move on. I know he's been courted by GBP in the past, but they are terrible match makers. Then again, when you are an established star, they get you good names. GBP are just amateurs at bringing up the prospects.Comment

Cotto made Arum stinking rich...why is his feelings so hurt lately? First it was the blatant favortism of Foreman...you could see the fake ass smug smile he gave Cotto after the dominant win. You could tell he really wanted Foreman to end Cotto on the big stage and now its Chavez who gets to build his name off of Cotto?
I can't be the only one that sees what Arum is doing...he is just beggin for Cotto to lose to his rising star and when Cotto leaves, its not big deal because he got what he needed off of him. Its time Cotto steps in and puts an end to this...based on the Foreman fight which like more than half the press and fans picked Cotto to lose that the fire still runs deep in him and his pride wants him to get back in with Pac...but Cotto has to see the pattern here
Vanes? Chavez Jr.? Who's next after Chavez? C'Mon Miguel...free yourself...become afree-agent , just don't sign with Don King...cause he makes Arum look like Jesus
Bears reposting here...

Wow... why people think this is a bad deal for Cotto is beyond me. Chavez is a bum, he is not beating Cotto EVER. However, the guy brings massive amounts of money and name recognition which is all Cotto needs at this point. Yea, he can go fight guys who are better fighters like Spinks, Angulo, Martinez etc... but as Bob said there is NO money in those guys. I'm sorry, but when is the last time any of the three guys I mentioned, or ANYONE other than Cotto at 154 put 15k+ in the seats and/or headline their own PPV? None of them, Chavez however already has in Mexico. If people are willing to pay to watch him fight a tomato can even more will pay to see him face a Puerto Rican.
The rivalry alone is enough to sell the fight, but you can also milk Chavez name, his looks, his record and all the Mexican fans for money. Cotto is going to bring his fans, his already a proven draw. IDC what you want to say bout his skill, heart or anything else but you can't deny the guy is a cash cow. Not to mention, as I already stated Cotto isn't going to lose this fight, its simply another tune-up for Cotto, WITH STEWARD, until his next big fight whether it be Manny or Margarito because we all know that is what is coming next. I mean really, who else is there for Cotto to get into the ring with that brings money AND risk? Yea, he can face Angulo, Martinez, Williams now and I'm sure HBO would take the fights, however, Cotto isn't seeing anything above a couple of million with those guys and I can promise you he'll be making at least 4 million to face Chavez. If this fight goes on PPV it'll be hitting close to $10 million with PPV buys. Margarito/Cotto was a smaller fight than this one, at least when it comes to name value (Cotto hadn't faced Manny mainly) and it did 500k. I see this fight doing AT LEAST that much if not more, easy fight, easy payday and a great job by Top Rank.Comment
