  • Comments Thread For: Shane Mosley: If Berto Beats Miguel Cotto, We Can Talk

Before a fight with Sergio Mora was locked and sealed for September 18, former three division champion Shane Mosley was trying to make a fight with WBC welterweight king Andre Berto. When the two fighters were set to meet in January, they agreed on a 60-40 split in Mosley's favor. Berto withdrew from the fight to support his family members who were affected by the earthquake in Haiti. [Click Here To Read More]

What the hell does he have to beat Cotto for? Cotto already said they aint fighting him.

Why doesnt Shane fight Haymons other fighter: Paul Williams.

shane would have been better off fighting berto instead of mora who is gonna run, clinch, make it an awful night win or lose for mosley. fighting mora is useless.

why do floyd fans complain about arum & top rank letting their in house fighters fight each other yet al haymon refuses to let his fighters fight each other.

          another double standard.

Unless youre trying to steal all the money there isnt a need to pit your fighters against one another unless you had to. What Arum is doing is blatant.

Actually, it's basically the same thing in each case. Arum has a bigger pool, and matches his inhouse fighters to maximize his own earnings, obviously. Hamon on the other hand manages (as distinct from promoting) a few fighters, and avoids matching them against one another so that one doesn't get knocked off by the other. This, once again, enables him to maximize earnings.

It's just business as usual insofar as boxing is concerned. It is also unfortunate that things are run in such ways, and it obviously invites criticism. And insofar as Willie's point is concerned, he's right it is a double standard.
