Haye with Roach in his corner and a few fights from now could possibly have a chance. Roach could teach him how to use head movement and his feet better so he could avoid jabs. His head movement was laughable in the Barrett fight. Everytime he tried to move away, Barrett would catch him clean with a jab. He could also teach him how to counter punch more effectively. And we all know Power + Countering = Wlad's Kryptonite.

Of course if Wlad catches him flush on the chin its still lights out though. And I don't think Povetkin would ever have a shot. He doesn't have enough power to upset Wlad.

I wander if Teddy Atlas is needlessly holding POVETKIN back i mean he turned down 2 and a half million just cause he thought he might lose - obviously you fight to WIN and who knows he might of caused an UPSET this has damaged povetkins image !!!

I don't think that's Wlad's kryptonite - what fighter has countered him effectively? I can't think of any.

        Purrity- Punched himself out
Sanders - Sanders went after him from the bell
Brewster - Punched himself out/drugged (depending how much of a Klitschko fan you are)

The only figher I can think of that was having any perceived success counterpunching Wlad was Mercer with his jab. Wlad had two black eyes after the fight as a result of those jabs. Ofcourse Mercer didn't even come close to beating him and got brutalized and stopped for the first time in his career.

If Atlas belives he needs more time then it's obvious Povetkin ain't ready.

Atlas is losin g good money too by this move.

            yup.
It is an unfair move by the IBF.

It was ultimately Povetkin's decision whether to take the fight or not. Atlas may have influenced him but the blame should go to Alexander not Teddy...

No,I disagree,it's the right call by the IBF but in the long run taking time to get better might help him later on when and if he fights Klitschko.

Personally I don't see him getting better especially considering he ain't fighting a good level opposition but who knows,I'm just a guy on a forum not a trainer,Atlas might be on to something.

its a good move imo, now pov has to fight his way back up the ranking which will get him more experience and more of a chance at winning, meanwhile one or 2 other fighters get a shot at Wlad.

Although i wouldnt be at all surprised to see Pov shooting up the WBA rankings and getting a fight with Haye.

Povetkin was not ready, if you watched him fight before this then you would have known before the fight was even signed that he would have got UD'ed by Wlad.

Whoever's decision it was to pull him out was probably a smart one but his reputation has gone down the toilet as a result. Whoever said he won't get a shot at greatness again is a fool, in todays current Heavyweight climate all you have to do is win the European belt and that would qualify you for a title shot nowadays. But he has to step up the competition, fight top 10 guys (Chagaev, Dimitrenko, Solis, Adamek, Haye, Valuev, Juan Carlos Gomez, hell even Sam bloody Peter!). Point i'm trying to make is he has to gain experience before challenging any Klitschko. But there's going to have to be a major confidence rebuilding process for Povetkin here.

Teddy Atlas, ruining more careers. Poor Michael Grant is just now getting his head together after Atlas messed him him up, and now Teddy has convinced Povetkin that he's a bum who can only be rescued by guess who? Teddy Atlas! Poor Povetkin will probably never get that big payday now.
