Taylor did not act as if he won the fight. This comment was made by Max Kellerman, Roy Jones Jr, Emanuel Steward, Bernard Hopkins and Bob Costas.

It seemed to me that Steward had Hopkins winning but didn't want to admit it. When asked he tried to avoid the question and said it was a close fight. He usually says who he thought won the fight.

He's not getting his full credit because he was getting his ass stomped out the second half and barley made it to the finish. Its not like he went in there and ran ****.

i have respect for both guys, not a die hard fan of either.
but i mean, lampley, merchant thought taylor won. ********* did as well.

Yes he did, and benard can say that the judges dont matter (like he did) and that the public is all that matters, but who went home with the belts?? I just finished watching it and came up with 116-114 Taylor; and I was hard pressed to give that much to nard. Taylors youth and inexperience showed in the latter rd's, but hopefully that wont be such a factor in the rematch and a UD in his favor will be the end result.
On a side note, the score should have been even more in favor of Taylor, if Nady had simply deducted atleast 2 of the warrented pt's for fouls..I could have understood taking atleast that many away for fighting so dirty.

Plain, simple fact. Taylor did not "win" that fight, Hopkins lost it. You cannot spend the better part of 8 rounds on you bicycle, actually start fighting in the 9th and expect to get a decision.

On my card, Hopkins took 7, then 9-12. The only reason I gave him 7 was because he landed 2 right hands instead of the 1 he was landing in rounds 1-6.

He did not fight like a champion. He fought like someone who was expecting to be able to wear down and KO a 26 year old kid.

The only scorecard I thought was outrageous was the 116-112 card from Roth. You might be able to argue that hopkins deserved a draw, but what planet was this idiot on where he could possibly have seen Hopkins winning 8 rounds to 4 when he spent 8 rounds doing nothing but running and fouling?

I knew, too, that this fight was a no-win situation for Taylor. If he had stomped a hole in Nard, it would have been that Nard suddenly "got old". If he lost to Nard, he would have been "nothing but hype".

Personally, I would have preferred he take 2 more top tier fights before stepping in against Nard, but then Nard would have been retired and he would have fought in an eliminator and been a "paper champion".

Do any of people on the "Nard Won" bandwagon think that his statements after this fight might mean that, unlike Nard, he's a nice, humble kid who might actually understand that while he won, he almost folded towards the end, which means that he still needs some tune up to be as great as champion as Nard was? That he mentioned the rematch because he knew that Nard would call for it?

Thats a bunch of bull****, if he was a *****, and ive known many of them in my time, he wouldnt have been in the ring in the first place. He didint let Hopkins wrestle him around, he wasnt intimidated, he went in there and held his own with a P4P great, are you in the ring? And if you are, have you ever challaneged a P4P great and held your own in the eyes of the judges? What the **** do you know about what it takes to be a champ.

Why do you guys think that just because Hopkins will correct his mistakes that Jermain Taylor wont do the same thing. I can tsee Hopkins changing his gameplan, but I can see Jermain changing his. Starting late has always been Hopkins strategy. Taylor can still win rounds and reserve his energy.
