1. Before the fight was in the talks, Williams just got a call out of nowhere saying Martinez was training for him and he was willing to replace Pavlik. He had more time to prepare than Williams did. So if anything, he had the advantage. Especially considering how Williams had to go from training for an orthodox, one dimensional power puncher to training for a south paw, slick boxer. That's not easy to do at all. You have to bring in new sparring partners and change your whole entire strategy. For example, look what happened when Cintron pulled out of the fight at 147 and Williams replaced him with Quintana. Williams got schooled because he wasn't ready. But when he got a full camp going and brought in Collazo for sparring, what happened? He destroyed Quintana in one round.

2. Martinez's stamina did not improve in the Pavlik fight. He just took a few rounds off because he knew he wouldn't be able to fight at that pace for the whole fight. That's the only reason why he was able to have that late come back. Its called preserving your stamina. Sugar Shane, who also never had the best stamina in the world did the same thing, and nobody ever noticed.

Martinez didn't have a proper camp either and Williams is always gonna have problems with decent boxers (specially southpaws).. see Cintron, Martinez, Quitana fights for clarification. He prepared himself better for Pavlik knew to take a few rounds off and come on late, maybe his stamina didn't improve but his gameplan certainly did

That doesn't really have anything to do with who won the fight. If Martinez is a good sport and respects the decision of a close fight, good for him, but that doesn't mean he clearly lost.

Did you only watch Martinez highlights or the actual fight? Williams landed CLEAN several times.

I've watched the fight several times.

Martinez was usually out of range or smothering P-Will's punches. The 11th is where he landed his best shots and they were more than matched by Martinez.

Williams landed few clean punches in comparison to Martinez. He just started to take them better at the end. Not a surprise since Williams was already training for Pavlik and knew he was fighting on that date and Martinez only had 6 weeks.

Then you reasoning for who won the fight should be that you felt Williams won more rounds, not Sergio saying he thought he lost.

It was a close bout, I don't get mad either way at someone thinking either man won. Personally I lean towards Martinez because he landed the more effective blows and lumped Paul up. Paul landed more and was more active so it's personal preference.
