I mean Martinez really hurt Williams but for the bell he could have been stopped

Williams got a flash KD, which in no way was Martinez hurt

Apart from the knockdowns.. how was the first round? pretty even with no real standout guy..

Yet the judges give it to Williams??
It's insane to me because the punches he was landing on Williams were ridiculously clean. And the punches that Williams landed were not, Martinez was either at the very end of his punches (lose all the steam) or smothering them.

The only judge that gave Martinez the first round is the one that scored it 119-109 for Willaims . Ridiculous robbery, I heard that was Goossen's present.

      That is why.

      Martinez admitted he lost recently.

Okay I'll give you that. He did have a better gameplan that time around. But Williams does not necessarily struggle against boxers. He struggles against power and accuracy. The first Quintana fight was the same situation as the Martinez fight. He was originally scheduled to fight Kermit Cintron, but Cintron pulled out and Quintana filled in as a late replacement. Williams wasn't ready for that style, so he had no answers. But when he got prepared, he destroyed him in one round. He struggled against Cintron because of his power and timing, as I mentioned earlier. That allowed him to land flush shots, which made Williams respect him a lot more than he should have been. Its his lack of defense that caused problems there. Martinez has timing, but not very much power, so his style isn't as bad for him as Cintron's was Williams' activity and stamina makes it harder for Martinez to box as comfortably.

But goddamn he needs to find a way to protect that chin of his...He took a lot of shots to the chin in the first Martinez fight, the Margo fight and even Cintron was landing some that staggered him. They need to work on his head movement in his next camp or something.

Because after all Pac was busted up and Clottey looked fine.

Martinez said he lost thats fine with me.
if you say williams beat martinez, you better quit saying marquez beat pacquiao. by your standard the W on the W-L column is all that matters.

I thought it was close...a draw or a point either way and I won't complain too much. Personally, I thought Martinez won by a rd or 2 and he only had a month to prepare for the fight. The scoring was a joke and Williams' face looked like he had been jumped by a street gang and it's no wonder why he doesn't want to take the rematch.

i take my decisions how they are given. i was hoping the fight was going to be scored a draw but i couldn't complain that williams received the decision.

the only thing that had me a bit angered was that one ridiculous scorecard. martinez fought much too hard for some guy that didn't train and wasn't in there taking punches to spit in his face like that.

like a man of honor, martinez accepted his loss and gave a reason why he felt that way. i respected that and will always respect him, as a fighter, for it.

I scored it 7 rounds to 5 for Williams. Last rounds have been decisive, and Williams was the fresher of the 2.

I had Williams winning. Close, tough fight, Paul Williams scored more often.
