For training, while preferable, one does not have to feel 100% since it's not the real thing.

On fight night, you would want to be as close to 100% as possible.

A friend of mine, who weighs about 195lbs fainted after giving blood. Sure it's more than what will be taken out for a test but it shows the point that taking out blood can be a negative.

For Manny, it may also be psychological especially because he felt it affected him in a previous fight.

Just like my example of my friend. It affects him more than it would me even though we weighed about the same at the time. Did it mean that I was stronger than him? No. It just meant that he is more susceptible than I am.

That (taking out blood) has nothing to do with boxing except when you are bleeding during a fight but that part is fair game.
