    FAO : Mexican boxing fans

Why do so many of you believe Canelo will become the next best thing and possibly the next Chavez?

When I ask when is he going to step up you guys always reply this whole "He's 19 BS" Well he's 20 actually... if he's that good as most people are trying to sell him when will he step up?

Remember Erik Morales became world champion at 21 and even took the world title from ZARAGOZA.

Marco Antonio Barrera became a world champion at 21 as well.

It pisses me off how Televisa is selling this kid as the next GOAT.

Morales and Barrera won their titles in the Bantamweight divisions when was the last time a 19 year old won a welterweight title?

It's always the same thing with you irrational people, everytime a prospect comes a long it's always the same thing "when is he gonna step up and fight elite compatition". Please show me all these elite 19 year old American fighters that are competeing for world titles please.

I dont know many hispanics who think he will be the next Chavez. I think you're purposely exagerating. So for from what I've seen from my fellow hispanic members, they have high hopes for him, but realize he still needs a lot of work.

But if you disagree with me, I'm sure we wouldn't have a problem with you showing us all these quotes and posts you're talking about.

I think that is fair considering his age, we don't want him to turn into another Vargas because he stepped up too high in class too soon.

I am only saying that because of his age, if he was 25 and had 34 pro fights already he would need to step it up.

Ever since the Cotto fight then they "realized" he needs a lot of work. Ever since his last fight, They've been praising him x1000 more. I mean do you watch Mexican media? Televisa...Tv Azteca or channels like that? It's all over man. Even my family members...everyone in my hometown at the bars. Even last weekend at this place I went to the waiters brought up Canelo as a conversation at the bar and talked about how great he is . Trust me Canelo is being sold and marketed really well and is making people believe that

Quote and posts I'm talking about? WTF

Morales and Barrera didn't have amateur backgrounds either so what's your point? He's not even a welterweight. He's in the badass '150' pound division which most people from Mexico don't even know about it unless they're hardcore fans like us.

Dude can you read my opening post again before jumping to conclusions? I clearly stated when do you guys think he'll step up his level of competition?

                God you're a dumbass.

Oh yeah at that age he should be more than ready, and Vargas had an Amature back ground but even then he was still to young. I just laugh that American fighters get away with waithing till their 25 or 26 before they are expected to step up but everyone else in the world the second you get 20 fights under your belt you have to fight Hall of Famers.

Mike Jones is 20-0 is he being expected to fight top 10 welterweights yet? no!

What were Manny and Floyd doing at the age of 20?

Funny how you bring those guys up because now they're washed up and were past their prime in their last 20's. Why are you criticizing the kid for being 20 years old and has been stepping up against better competition since he came over to the US? Not his fault other fighters don't want to fight him.

Didn't you learn what happens to young fighter when you throw him in the ring at a young age against a fighter in his prime? Check what happened to Vargas after his fight to Tito. He was never the same fighter and his career was cut short because of that fight.

DLH was one of the last few fighters who wasn't protected at a young age and was thrown in the ring against some very good fighters right away.

A promoter and fighter want the fighter to have a long career in the sport instead of having a 3-4 year run and be washed up.
