i would like to see that as well but Cotto is the biggest payday out there for him right now and an easy fight.

Floyd better fight somebody, he takes a year off and comes at Pac in 2011 with the old,"I need some money to put gas in my plane" mentality...Im betting on Manny. I'd pick Floyd's style over Manny's anyday of the week, but if he pulls that stunt he's gonna lose.

it's one thing to take the biggest payday, it's another thing fighting a fight nobody gives a damn about.....but i guess i manny can do it, why can't floyd right?

even as a mayweather fan, i'd seriously have a tough time trying to defend him for taking this fight tho....

besides, i think he'd do just as good numbers fighting PW, or martinez at MW, as he would fighting cotto.

i can't ride with floyd on this one......

in all his other "biggest payday available" fights, you could always find SOMEBODY who favored the other guy in the fight. i think you'd be hard-pressed finding ANYBODY favoring cotto here.

Damn, you people are hard to please.

I will never be mistaken for a Mayweather fan, but a fight w/ Cotto would be legit. It would be a blockbuster too, easily 1 million+ buys. So what if Cotto lost to Manny recently? That's why they get in the ring, to test themselves and compete. Plus, it's the old adage- styles make fights. Cotto is a bigger (weight-wise), stronger version of Jose Louis Castillo and Manny Steward brought his jab back and his footwork was crisp so he could make the fight interesting, especially if he goes to the body like the Cotto of old.

That would be a great fight, stop whining.

It shouldn't! Thats a BS fight! pbf should be slapped for fighting cotto. Thats pbf/gatti(RIP) II. Who is paying for that?

pbf takes PW, Bradley, SM, Angulo, Khan only in the UK only inside Wembley, or .......? But not cotto!

Unless, they co-promote with their own companies. Smart money.

if this fight gets made (may vs cotto) wouldnt it mean that this was arums plan the whole time and somehow floyd would be getting a little extra for letting this scenerio happen? let marg and pac fight, may fights cotto and then the big fight in 2011 with may vs pac. that would be three fighters under arum, all of them ppv attractions, and millions in the bank. more so than just having may vs pac. from a business stand point it makes sense but damn that would be ******ed.

If Arum really wanted to make as much money as possible, he would do Cotto-Margarito II, which would be huge. Meanwhile, Pacquiao takes on Bradley or another unknown and they do a 75-25 split (meaning Arum gets the lion's share also). And then do Pacquiao vs Cotto/Margarito winner. And Then top it off with Pacquiao-Mayweather in the fall next year.

In your scenario, Mayweather/GBP get half or more on several fights.
