Was 2010 a step up or step back for boxing?

Now that the big fights for the next half of the year are already set what do you think of the year 2010? Step up or down for boxing?

Ever since Floyd started ducking PAC(when he came out of retirement), boxing has been going backwards. They need the fight to generate fresh interest.

I think its too early to make that call. It all depends on how those big fights are gonna play out.

I think its been real disappointing and a step back. Floyd fought once it ******. manny 1st fight ****** his next fight is highly questionable and feels like it will suck. No paul sergio 2. No Juanma Gamboa. No Bradley Alexander. It's like this year is all about setting up 2011.

step back as far as floyd-pac and mega fights go.

However I think 2010 was a necessary "down year" to build future stars. Lots of talented younger guys who I think will blow up in 2011 & 2012.

It sure as hell wasn't a step up. Promoters are being more influencial, and that's the downfall.

well, the year isn't over last time I checked. so far its well below average and there's a lot more talking than fighting. the summer is usually slower, there's still a few fights that can be made to make a comeback

Why i think 2010 would be a good year for boxing:

                  1. Both Pac and Marg are come forward fighters. Unlike Clottey, we're sure to get a serious fight in our hands. (hopefully!)
                  2. Its still the middle of the year, so its not too late for surprise fights to come out.
                  3. Worse case scenario, as you said Dunn, the events this year would lead up to an incredible 2011, so it would in retrospect mean that 2010 would be a good year for boxing.

Of course, on the flip side, there's always murphy's law...
