[QUOTE=ballgamessuck;8929531]Paq haters love to perpetuate the myth that Manny and his team love to weaken their opponents by "draining" them. The first lie is that Manny drained DLH to 147. True, DLH had not fought at that low of a weight in a long time. However, the real reason that DLH fought Paq at 147 is that DLH had agreed to fight a rematch with Floyd at 147. DLH fought at 150 vs Stevie Forbes in the meantime. Floyd then took a hiatus from the sport instead of taking the rematch, DLH figured Roach didnt know what he was getting into, decided to fight Paq as a replacement for Floyd, and then got his ass severely kicked.
Paq has only fought one fight at a catchweight so far, that being Cotto. Cotto agreed to come in at 145, he had weighed in at 146 in his previous fight so it was no problem. Anyone watching that fight who thinks two pounds would have made a difference is nuts, Paq whips Cotto the same way anywhere from 145 to 154.
Now the self proclaimed "goat" is full of excuses, and Paq wants to fight someone. Margo fought his first fight after the plaster incedent at 154, but announced his intent to return to 147. Then Floyd dropped out of Paq's radar, and the chance for Margo to fight Paq for a title at JMW came up, of course he jumped on it. Now Paq haters are saying that Paq has an unfair advantage because Marg will have to "drain" to make 150. Please explain to me how Margo will have to drain to make 150 when he already had planned to drop to 147.[/Q

The problem now is that he is fighting Margarito at a catchweight for a 154 pound championship, that's lame whether U admit it or not!!This coming from a fan who is tired of both Pacman & Floyd!!The most impressive fights I can see either 1 taking is the Punisher or Martinez for the 154 pound title!!The world would watch,so please don't say them guys are nobody, even U don't believe that!!Floyd & Manny both are superstars atop the boxing world cherrypickin fights their both supposed to win & putting them on ppv,**** em both I say!!

Bhop was a ****ing man about it and made the weight (albeit, DLH was past prime).

Margarito gets a 30-hr window to rehydrate back to whatever weight he wants. Weigh-in is 4pm Friday, fight is Saturday night, around 11pm.
it doesnt make it right tho does it?

If EM had outgrown 130, he should have moved up or asked for a catchweight, and as far as the hydration clause against DLH, there wasnt one. The only penalty was in the case that DLH had come in over 147, and as I said in my original post, the only reason DLH was at 147 was because Floyd wanted to drain DLH for their rematch.

FMJ has fought most of his fights having a weight disadvantage and never asked for a catchweight.
Most of his fights my ass. For a few years he fought a few fights giving up some size, against slow as moses Baldo, and the fight with DLH, the rematch of which was scheduled at 147 before Floyd bitched out. Maybe you were asleep, but Floyd had a slight size advantage over Hatton, a large size advantage over Marquez, and against SSM he was obviously a little larger, the commentators spoke of it throughout the fight.

Both sides can try to make sense, and neither will win.

We boxing fans already lost collectively, so what's the point?

Delahoya fought a catchweight 158 max vs. Bhop, and lost. WBA Super World middleweight title, WBC, IBF, WBO middleweight titles all on the line.

Meldrick Taylor fought Terry Norris at a catchweight, 150.5 lbs limit, and lost.

Bhop came in at 156 for the DLH fight.

        SRL v. Lalonde...SRL wins.

        catchweights are nothing new.
The only thing new about catchweights is that historically the man moving up gets his ass beaten by the man moving down, Paq has reversed that trend.

145 is about the largest Paq could hope to weigh for that fight, did you watch the fight? If you did and you think Cotto would beat Paq at 147 or 154 you are nuts, and I say that as a Cotto fan.

If Pac could handle Margo at 154 then why does he insist on fighting him at 150? The reason Pac dont want Margo at 147 is because Arum doesnt have a bogus superwelterweight trinket for him there. Pacroid can claim a 154 belt without ever fighting there. Thats the second belt in a row that he got at a catchweight.

Money May heroically jumped to 154 and faced DLH after he came off a great KO win over Mayorga. Money May weighed in at 150 but he let DLH weigh the full 154.

You forgot to mention that after heroically jumping to 154, Floyd wanted a rematch at 147, he knew DLH had a good chance of beating him and drained DLH for the rematch, and then ran from the fight anyway.

he "let" someone with much more bargaining power, and the biggest payday of his life, weigh in at 154? lmao.

he had no choice. It's either Delahoya comes in 154 or no fight. he didn't "let" anyone do anything.
