But you can't tell me it wasn't deliberate that Arum avoided Caballero without even trying to make a unification fight at 122.
Avoiding the point like you did with Iceta. You're just kicking the argument can down the road.

But moving on, I would agree with your next, latest point. He most likely did.

Bottom line: Caballero is being ducked, in part because he is high risk/low reward. And he is not making it any easier on himself by demanding even terms. That simply is not going to happen any time soon.

You did understand that what the promoter says and what the fighter demands are different things though right?

Of course I do. But I fail to see how one instance of saying he wanted 50/50 gets blown out of proportion.
He did that because the initial demands were so crazy that he said **** it.

Now hopefully they fight gets made. Cab will take a good payday I
      am sure if it's reasonable.

      As he always has.

One instance? You think he just came up with these demands? He can't get a fight so now he says, "fu*ck it, since I can't get a fight now I'm going to demand even more!" Sorry, just doesnt make sense to me.

To me it fits in with everything else that has come out. The fact that his promoter came out and stated that he was willing accept a much smaller percentage to get the fight done also fits in with a fighter that hasn't been able to get fights because he overestimates his appeal etc...He might have earned that belief by unifying but unfortunately the public doesn't agree. He can't even fill out small arenas and has to go running back to Panama to get govt-sourced money to fight.

Don't get me wrong, like I said previously he is getting ducked but, again, he's not making any easier on himself.

I don't believe you'll agree with my point of view but we can agree that we both hope the fight gets done.

HBO wants him though. They've been in favor of every match up.
When HBO said they wanted both fights, Arum said no dice.

We can agree to disagree on this, and I'd like nothing better than the fight getting made.

Caballero has made concessions went to Thailand and Canada to win titles on short money so it's not in his history to decline fights.

Do you even have to ask him that?? Lopez is PR and Ch@mp is a nationalistic hugger just like the majority of the Ricans on here.

Caballero is doing what it takes to get a fight, and he should be applauded.
Whether you like it or not, whether they have earned it or not, Whether I agree with it or not, Gamboa and Juanma are the stars in those divisions and they can sit back and demand a bigger purse than Caballero. Boxing is business and here you have 2 young, spectacular brawling, undefeated fighters with a great fan base (twice as much as Caballero), in comparison with 34 year old boxer fighter (a good one i must add but not much great skills) with no fan base a 2 defeats. There is no way in hell that he can be demanding the same amount as Gamboa or Juanma. By doing so it is obvious that he is pricing himself out of the fight and out of what HBO offers. What has been presented is a purse by HBO that Caballero has demanded half and there is no way his getting it from Gamboa or Juanma.

Even his promoter in this article said so and in other words told him that he was wrong and made a so called "Strong Proposal". so don't even try that bull****

There is no indication that Caballero won't be reasonable ( he has been in every fight he's had out of his home country) so let's hope for the best.

But Arum is talking about Salido now.

I guess it's for the IBF so it would get Gamboa two titles if he wins.

The fact that he has gone other places to fight doesn't change the fact that he cant demand against these young stars.

I beleive it was Gabilan who said it best. Caballero is a high risk low reward fighter. He has to do what his promotor just did (with out knowing if it is in fact a "strong proposal") suck it up and fight for a lot less against one of this stars, win and then he can sit back. Similar to Margarito who was avoided for the same reasons until he beat the a star in Cotto and then he was on his way to bigger paydays. In that fight Margarito accepted way less than Cotto, even though Margarito had a good career already. He just threw it all away with the plaster issue afterward.
The problem is tha Caballero will need to make it happen soon because he is not getting any younger.

Let's hope it is in fact a "strong proposal" and that even HBO throws in a little more money because cleary this is a better rating fight than the one they had scheduled.

Hell they can even promote this as a mini tournament because they can try to make the winner of Marquez-Lopez face the winner of Gamboa-Caballero.

I saw what you said about Salido and I dont like it either.

I hope HBO refuses this replacement and brings more money to make the Caballero fight happen even if it delays the date 1 months as arum said he will need more time for Gamboa's "special training" against Caballero.
