Say what you want but those cards were atrocious. One guy only had Ishe winning 1 round, give me a ****ing break.

Ouch, I wouldn't go that far. To me it was up to Guerrero to handle his own business.Unbelievable?! What a hypocrite this guy is! He gives all the praises and graces and never once talks about the fact that he went into a fight with a game plan of delivering low blows in order to weaken and slow down the favored more athletic champion. I counted no less than 40 low blows with at least ten of those being straight cup shots. He was able to sway the Showtime commentary by dedicating the fight to Nick Charles which in turn swayed a lot of viewers who don't judge a fight for themselves. It is really sad that this is even controversial.
And as far as shots at the promoter, referee or commission. Ishe, do you realize that if there were any other capable referee in that ring with you that you would have been DQ'd? Do you understand that Ishe?
Further, if there were compubox numbers to show that Guerrero out landed Smith almost 3-1 for the fight there would be no discussion on this. Ishe, quit having fake class and Burton, if you are going to be a real journalist you should get both sides of the story before writing garbage.Comment

Ishe Smith blasts Prize Fight Promotions but is it warranted?
Recently former Contender series one fighter Ishe Smith went on the record with boxingscene.com and blasted boxing promotional company Prize Fight Promotions. Back on July 16th, Smith came up short against rising middleweight contender Fernando Guerrero in Southaven, Mississippi. It was a nasty, rough fight that both fighters felt long after it was over with. During the fight, referee Randy Phillips took a point away from Smith for low blows, some of which Smith himself admitted were indeed low. During one of the rounds, the refere (Phillips) stopped the action and walked to the side of the ring and told Prize Fight head Brian Young to stop yelling at him. Young was screaming at Phillips to do something about the amount of low blows that his fighter was receiving. Is that such a bad thing? Is there a promoter in the country that doesn't do that for his fighter?
In Smith's interview with Boxingscene, he calls Prize Fight a "Two cent promoter" and blasted away about the referee and the judging. That's all well and fine, but the promoter does not control who judges the fight, and who referees the fight. Prize Fight has nothing to do with what referee or what judges are used during a fight. Secondly, Prize Fight Promotions is far from a "Two cent promoter". They have promoted one of the largest PPV fights in boxing history, Mike Tyson Vs Lennox Lewis. The outfit also brought along the successful Peterson brothers, and promoted Zab Judah, who under Prize Fight was given a world title shot against Miguel Cotto. Prize Fight is actually one of the best promotional companies in the country at moving fighters from nothing to contention. The company has been recognized by the NABO as their 2007 promoter of the year, and have sold out their Fight's at The Fitz shows for multiple years in a row.
This writer has been covering Prize Fight Promotions for many years now, and in all of my time covering them they have been nothing but a class act organization. I have interviewed their fighters for many years now as well, and not one time has anyone had a bad thing to say about them both on or off of the record. The proof is in the pudding when you look at this promotional outfit. Their fighters get world title shots. Their fighters are kept busy and their fighters stay with them, and it's all for a good reason. The company takes care of their own.

Ishe Smith = Rocky Juarez. Good enough to be competitive, but not good enough to win the championship.Comment

He really did show what he has in that fight, easily the best I had ever seen of him.He gave a really great account of hmself, that wasn't the Ishe Smith I'm used to seeing. So I was very impressed. Just that Ishe isn't being real here, he continued to hit Guerrero bellow the belt, on the tigh and hips. Guerrero who is known for coming on strong late was gassed. Guerrero would retaliate but only a few times.
Ishe Smith must have had a great training camp, I'd rather he stay at 160. He could have easily gotten the win against Guerrero and I think he's a lot better then most people think. I don't understand the move down to Jr MW. Personally, I thought he looked bigger then Guerrero.
I also noted how big he looked, I expected him to be dwarfed by Guerrero because he was by Jacobs, who did unofficially weigh in at 175 for that fight though.Comment

I watched the fight twice and both times I thought it could have went either way. In reality, it should have been a draw. This is the second fight I've watched of Guerrero where he couldn't dominate a solid opponent. He's getting these decisions now, but what happens when he gets in there with better opponents?Prize Fight Promotions will get him to the top, but I'm wondering if Guerrero has what it takes to stay there. He's been down a few times in his fights and I give him credit for getting up and winning. The question is, what happens if he fights the Pavlicks, Williams, and Martinezs and get dropped? Does he have what it takes to rebound against that level of opposition? I'm a big fan of Fernando. I live 45 minutes from Salisbury, his hometown. I would love to see him bring the championship back to Maryland. But, I'm also a bigger fan of boxing and want to see these fighters earn their victories and rankings without the help of judges, refs, or promoters.Comment

I understand that he was suppose to beat Smith more convincingly, but I do see improvement. Guerrero is actually a small MW, so we're gonna see him mature into a bigger MW. His style is gonna difficult for anyone to deal with.I watched the fight twice and both times I thought it could have went either way. I challenge anyone to watch the fight without listening to the commentary and count the low blows. Not just the cup shots but also the hip shots which are just as illegal. Honestly, I think we should all be talking about Guerrero's perseverance and character in the face of adversity. He fought a cagy veteran who entered the fight with a game plan of starching the younger fighter low. He did this to slow Guerrero's movement and decrease his work rate later in the fight. It worked. He also swayed the Showtime commentary, most notably Farhood, with his dedication to Nick Charles. Menefee and Tarver both feed directly from farhood who carries the show due to Menefee's lack of boxing knowledge and Tarver's greenness on the mic. Not one time did Guerrero ever complain, he just kept plugging away. Also, he did get knocked down but his foot was on the wrong side of Smith's and he had no where to go but down. Obviously he was never hurt. Just like his previous knockdown's, his feet were out of place or he was off balance. This is something he definitely needs to work on.I watched the fight twice and both times I thought it could have went either way. Ishe Smith needs to work on class and character. He made an ass out of himself on Contender 1 and he is making an ass out of himself now.Comment
