When Henry Armstrong won the welterweight world title from Barney Ross, they both fought at a catchweight of 140 lbs.

And as mentioned earlier, Sugar Ray Leonard fought for and defended world titles at catchweights too.

No. They didn't. Armstrong was supposed to come in at a required higher weight but that got scrubbed...Ross weighed 142, come as he was. Armstrong gave up almost ten pounds.

The sheer number of dumb hank threads today is mind boggling.

I was about to do the same, since I would've sworn Armstrong took more than a few fights at double digit weight disadvantages while he was growing into welterweight. Panda schooled them on the Leonard situation too.

Was this a scheduled catchweight? Ross weighed in at 141-143 for the last 17 of his fights.

Didn't mean to seem rude; just pointing out the catchweight idea isn't the same. There wasn't a firm ceiling in the first place and 142 was a fairly typical Welter limit at the time.
