Floyd was the p4p king during that time cotto should have been the one calling him out, but he did not. So people please know your s h i t before saying this again.

"Calling out" doesn't really mean much. It just adds some hype, but a fight is made with contracts and lawyers.

Apparently Mayweather asked Arum for a Cotto fight in 2005 @ 140, but Arum didn't want to put Cotto in there with Mayweather (I don't blame Arum, Floyd would've shredded him).

When the fight would've been best in 2008, after Mayweather-Hatton/Cotto-Mosley, I heard no talks of any serious negotiations between the two. You can say all the crap you want in an interview but all that matters is what goes on in negotiations. And for that, both deserve blame for the fight not taking place. Although Cotto did end up fighting Margarito, Clottey & Pacquiao in the next two years so I won't be overly critical of him.

Haha LOL....look how fast your stance has changed now. So now he skipped Cotto for Hatton only because Hatton was the bigger fight.

Cotto was undefeated and hungry, kicking ass and it was the promoters that didn't let the fight happen, if I'm not mistaken.

Who has Cotto ever called out? Yet hes still fought almost every top welterweight of the last few years.

People dont seriously buy what Mayweather says about fighting anyone who calls him out....do they?

Press conference boxing fans seem to really buy into this whole "call out" process.

As if fights worth 8 to 9 figures are made with a few words and a microphone rather than contracts and lawyers.

what does calling out even mean? mayweather called out pacquiao than did everything in his power to make sure the fight wouldn't happen. calling out is something that happens in the wwe and only ******s actually believe fights are made like that.

floyd called out cotto when he was a relative unknown at 140(not a threat). then when cotto gets to welterweight(threat) and becomes a star and everyone wants floyd to fight him he goes into retirement only to emerge once the cotto backlash has died down.

maybe it was just a coincidence? oh but dont worry mayweather "called him" out a long time ago so all his ducking after that is excused.

What is all this nonsense about boxers calling out boxers, or if a boxer don't call me out I am not fighting him. Mayweather is the only boxer that I hear saying that, it is so pathetic. What happened to fighting the best out there? It is a cheap excuse not to fight other boxers.
