Never heard of this and I always told that no matter what, that if you become a prized fighter your eligibility to amateur boxing is over. So that would include Olympics.
But yeah I'm excited to see Rau as a pro one day. And don't let his weight fool you he can get exposure because he is just a fun fighter to watch. Plus he will naturally get bigger with age and eventually be at least at 132-140.

Yeah he is one of my favorite amateur fighters along with Pedro Sosa, and Steven Martinez (although Martinez turned pro last fall If I'm not mistaken). Yeah that WSB is a deal to allow amateurs to get money and put them on a yearly salary. I didn't read any of you links tho but I think it's 15k for each bout and a 350k yearly salary or something like that.
I'm gonna put him in my avi as soon as I finish mocking Floyd fans...lol but on a serious note the fight that I was most looking forward to was him vs Rigondeaux in the 2008 olympics. Warren was blantantly robbed so the fight never materilized. Then Rigondeaux defected killing any chance of them facing off for a second time.
Just to let peeps now how nice the kid is, outside of his bouts on youtube, he fought rigondeaux in 05 I believe (he was 18 or 19 at the time) and barely lost to him on points. The rematch was gonna be crazy though.
The few knocks on him are this:
I don't like the knucklehead crew he has arround him. Also he won't turn pro until after the 2012 olympics, making him 25 years old when he finally decides to turn pro. This sucks because he will be like Ivan Calderon in a sense that he will waste his prime years as an amateur. I just don't get why he didn't turn pro in 08 because this wasn't the first time he was robbed and I wouldn't be shocked if he is robbed again in 2012.
BTW I can go on and on about the kid but yeah I have been following amateur boxing for years.

I don't follow amateurs hardly at all but I do remember him when I was watching highlights from all the fights at the national golden gloves this year. He was impressive...

If he's fighting around 117 at 23 years old i don't imagine he'll get that big. He better hope not as Vasyl Lomachenko (22) will turn pro around the 135 range and Warren will be *** out of luck along with anyone else in his division.
