And for Mayweather fans, don't over exaggerate the point and make sure if you do, that your criticism works both ways, since it was your boy who made another fighter hurdle two weight classes, sign a contract for a catch-weight, then proceed to break the catch-weight the day before and then offer money as an incentive for the fight to move forward.

The sad truth about this thread is that it's meaningless to obsessed Paquiao fans, Paquiao knows it, and most importantly Bob Arum knows it or he wouldn't have the temerity to try to make a junk fight like this. So many fighters sacrifice, train hard, and don't cheat, but to what end? Their reward for all of their hard work and dedication is obscurity. Bob Arum is blatantly flim flamming boxing fans by promoting this fight but it won't matter because for all of the supposed outrage in this thread, Paquiao fans always come slumming back to the trough every single time looking for more slop.

But "whatever" I guess, because all it is, is another paycheck and another meaningless belt/accolade like "fighter of the decade." If Paquiao sells one ticket or PPV buy Arum's cynical point is made, and make no mistake about it, it will be made.

          pac fan

sad to say catchweights are bull****. fighting marg and at a catch weight is getting me ill feelings of pinoy pride. horrible decisions or letting this happen.

I, as a pac fan, vote to veto this fight and/or boycott pac vs marg. I was a huge promoter for his fights between fam and co-workers. but this fight hope it goes down in flames! 250k ppv buys. STREAM IT!

Least floyd fought Oscar at 154
Floyd said it himself that he weigh in at 149lbs for that fight.

Floyd is another fighter which fights opponents at catch weights. For example Juan Manuel Marquez. Floyd likes his opponents out of weight, or old or shot if he had it his way he would actually like to fight a dead Pacman and he'll still attribute his victory as something big. Thats how Isane he really is add dilusional too.

Marquez wanted a payday and to show he is p4p the best. No one forced him to fight. When he called Floyd out do you really think he was going to come all the way down two weight classes to fight him? Common sense says hell no. Same way no one is forcing Tony. I dont think he deserves a payday like that but, whatever. I dont think Floyd ever intended on 144lbs anyway. It's all bs...

I'm aware that Cotto fighting at two pounds under 147 wasn't the cause of his defeat at the hands of Pacquiao, but what bothered me is that they were saying how Pacquiao won a seventh title. Pacquiao was getting special treatment and people are going in left and right bending the rules and making exceptions to make Pacquiao into this historical figure. Of Pacquiao's recent opponents, Cotto was the only one that had to come in at a catchweight. DLH was at 147 and that was okay because that was a legit limit, so was Hatton at 140, and Clottey at 147, why Cotto at 145...c'mon!

To do it again is just dumb. I'm aware that the weight won't affect the outcome that much, and that titles are worthless, but they're gonna' say that Pacquiao won an eighth title by fighting at a weight CLOSER to the welterweight limit rather than jr. middleweight.

This is something along the lines of Leonard-Lalonde...I don't remember the thread, but this was discussed weeks or days before the Pacquiao-Cotto fight. Leonard met Lalonde at a catchweight in order to claim a lightheavy weight title...several pounds under the light heavyweight title.

If you are Floyd, Manny, Oscar, SRL, etc you will get special treatment as long as you are the face of boxing. It's just apart of the business. Always has been always will be.
