Comments Thread For: Klitschko vs Povetkin Contract Details are Revealed

Some of the contract terms for the heavyweight fight between IBO/WBO/IBF heavyweight champion Wladimir Klitschko and previous mandatory challenger Alexander Povetkin have been revealed. Their fight was scheduled for September 11 in Frankfurt, Germany. The bout cracked wide open after Povetkin failed to appear at last Monday's press conference in Frankfurt and because Povetkin failed to sign the bout agreement within the 15-day period following the purse bid result.

I dont know what the insurance is for boxers so i cant comment on that but points 2 and 3 seem really harsh, a $250,000 fine for not turning up to a press confrence lol.

Pretty standard stuff. NO SLAVE CONTRACT THERE.

Can't the very wealthy Sauerland Promotions afford to pay for Povetkin's medical bills after he gets beaten up?

Povetkin and his team were afraid and were just looking for an excuse to back out.

The guy was going to get 2 millions for the fight If Povetkin's promotional company was the bid with 4 mil offer he would not even get 500k. Teddy Atlas said on the ESPN yesterday that Povetkin agreed with him not to take the fight now.

No point of attending the conference if you not going to fight.

That's because they are being EXAGGERATED.

Remember the source of this is Povetkin's management.

Nothing wrong apart from the gloves, Its a mandatory fight so both fighter can wear which ever gloves they want.
