Why is Williams running from Martinez?

I mean it's a great chance for Paul to get himself back on the map but it doesn't seem he wants the rematch? He should be taking this fight at any opportunity but looks as though he's going to miss this opportunity.. Seems to me big Paul wants no part of Martinez.

He already fought Martinez once and it was a tough fight. At this point, Williams may be looking at wanting to get paid big bucks next time he has to step it up like that. Easier for him to possibly fight smaller guys than go at it with the likes of Martinez.

If that first fight didn't help him boost his rep real high, the second one won't either.

He is looking to fight a guy that is more mainstream, like Pac or Floyd.

Well that's a shame because Paul would be wasting his time if that's the case. Paul is playing cat and mouse, it's never going to happen. Both Pacquiao & Floyd aren't going to fight him due to his size... He is denting his legacy if he carries on like this. Paul needs to make something happen and i mean like NOW.

He should go to the press-conference where Pac is and call him out. And if he can spot Floyd, do the same. He should at least get them to admit in front of everybody that he is to big/good for them to take that risk.

        After that, yeah...do something else.

For Martinez, did you see Williams last fight?
He was "off" in that last fight for one reason or another and that may have been due to his fight with Martinez. So he is going to have to figure out where he stands at the moment with wear and tear and fatigue.

Maybe but can you really see either of them fighting him? Because i cant! Paul needs to be true to himself and stop chasing both, stay at 154 where there are arguebly plenty of descent fights for him. Paul has virtually no business at 147 right now..

The Cintron fight hasn't done him any good atall but laying off for to long is only going to make things worse for himself. Paul should be looking for a couple fights at 154 it's where fights can be made. No disrespect to the guy but he really needs to think long and hard where he wants to be right now, he seems to be clowning about at this moment in time. It's time Paul wakes up and smells the coffee before it's all to late.

NO, I can't. Not at this point right now.

But I do agree he needs to decide on his weight because it's going to catch-up to him. I'm not even sure he can make 147 and be healthy. I think that is pushing it at this point.

But he should still fighting a bigger media platform, preferably where Pac and Floyd are in the room, to call them out. Then move on after they publicly reject him.

Williams doesn't impress me at all. Such a huge reach advantage over guys, and he still doesn't know how to really use it. Leaves his lead arm hanging like he's got a RJJ-type jab. Come on, son.
Forget about 147. WTF. Nobody wants to fight a 6'3" ww. Too tall for Pac, and too Southpaw for Floyd.

Take Sergio and settle that at 154. IF you win, go beat Cintron or Margo. And by then (late 2011) JCC Jr should be a bigger name. Take what you can, homie. WW shouldve been out of your head a loooooong time ago.

No real boxing fan should disrespect Paul. The guy has fought everyone and wants his big fight and just can't get it.

When you look at his resume it's as impressive as there is in boxing right now. Especially when you add all the weight classes and top contenders he fought.

That guy is a true fighter.

                  First it was Quintana.

1-1 (now it is irrelevant, Quintana is shot)

                  Then Martínez

                  Then Kermit The Frog

                  Amazing legacy for Paul Williams.

Fight them and clear all doubts.

                    He's not running.

What's become clear to me is that Paul Williams has an extremely warped and misguided view of who exactly he is and how he fits in the boxing world. You could see it when he asked for 50-50 against Pavlik. You could see it when he began talking about going back to 147 to fight Floyd and Pac. And you can see it now that he thinks he should get more than 50-50 against Martinez. He thinks he is some kind of superstar, and is acting like one, when in reality the guy is barely a star.
