Some of biggest names in Australian boxing shook their heads at Wednesday's farce of a fight between IBO cruiserweight champion Danny Green and Paul Briggs. The Perth bout ended in 29-seconds of the first round when Green threw what appeared to be a glancing jab, at best, to the upper part of Briggs' head. Briggs stumbled for a few steps and then went down for the full count.

I'm telling you this is bad for boxing. Last night on a local TV station here in LA, they called the Green-Briggs fight the worst dive ever. This station never talks about boxing. For them to bring up a obscure bout over in Australia is a terrible thing for this sport.

It is bad for boxing right now, but hopefully in the long run some good can come of it. Boxing in this country is in desperate need of some reform, maybe this incident will be the catylst for that. I certainly hope so.

Forza was correct, when he pointed out that dodgy **** has no place in boxing and is detrimental to the sport, no matter who is involved.

an aussie boxing fan, can't even enjoy the sport from australia, in america i pay 10 buck's a month to watch guy's like vic fight, what do you pay there 50 odd dollars a fight, it's pure bull****, you guy's really need to come together and do something about it. I was very critical, being an aussie about what happened, now i really feel bad for Briggsy , after hearing about everything going on with him, couldn't all you guy's come together to help him out, Danny should have seen how under trained he was at the weigh in of course any one who saw him sparring would have ran to the tab to place a bet, something can be done but you all have to come together on this, i doub't it will happen though

The latest excuse for the su****ious betting patterns is a youtube video of Briggs sparring poorly weeks out from the fight. Spin being the appearance of the video (poor quality video phone footage) caused the betting plunge on a 1st round KO. Yeah right.

A few weeks ago, when Briggs was refused a license, they were holding up neuro reports and MRI scans validating Briggs' right to fight. Now that he's taken a dive and it looks like the fix was in, word is out Briggs was such a physical and emotional cripple he could barely make it to the ring.

I'm with Philfy in hoping something good comes out of this and the dreadful mismatches and rip-offs in Australian boxing stop. No promoter would want to experience the humiliation Green is dealing with at the moment.
