What's funny is that they have Floyd listed as the "Emeritus" Champion at 154. Is this just a plan to have Manny face Floyd at 154 for the legitimate belt?
But how the hell is Cheatto even ranked #1 after his suspension?Comment

We need an organization like the NBA for boxing. Call it the NBL =National boxing League and do away with all the state commissions. Apply the most stringent boxing standards of conduct, drug testing, and make it illegal to show any fights not sanctioned by the NBL on tv in the states including ppv. That's how you settle this BS once and for all.Comment

I think its the popular thing on NSB to say these people are corrupt or this is a conspiracy, when the WBC has tried there best to a champ and this was actually (Tony vs Pac) a last option.Last edited by Khalid X; 07-23-2010, 01:36 PM.Comment

This thread is **** for the simply fact that Angulo is ranked #7 by the WBC and not #1. Not only that is comical that someone said that Arum somehow paid the WBC for Margarito's ranking. Fact is Martinez and Cintron were the two top guys and fought to a draw. Martinez moved on to MW and Cintron was dropped for obvious reasons.
The WBC tries to make a push for Chavez since he is number 3 ranked guy but his team wanted to pursue duddy at 160. Next the push was for 4th ranked guy in Saul Alvarez to face another top ranked guy but his team felt Canelo wasn't ready to be a champ at this stage of his career.
So with that said you have Ryan Rhodes, Antonio Margarito, Joachim Alcine and Vanes Martirosyan filling out the remaining top spots. Margarito wins a continential title so him and Rhodes rise to #1 and two respectfully. They tried to make Rhodes vs Margarito but Warren wanted Rhodes to fight in the UK (which is why he is fighting sept 18) so in and attempt to try as a last option the WBC took the new number 1 guy in Antonio Margartio (and according to their rules) matched him with a belt holder in a lower division ala Manny Pacquaio. This option is actually stated as the 4th option to fill a vacant title as according to WBC rules. These rules have been in place for years so again the WBC, after exhausted all other options, are just folllowing protocol.Comment

The problem is how the hell can Margarito be #1 in the WBC rankings if his last good win was in 2008?
Can you justify Alcine being #4 in front of Angulo and Martirosyan when Angulo just beat Alcine up in 1 round last Saturday? and Vanes just beat Joe Green last month??? What is Saul Alvarez doing at #2 for WBC at 154 with just a win over Jose Cotto at 147 and Cuello at 154? Who the hell is Cuello.Comment

He read it from WBC's official website which is apparently delayed or something(hopefully that's the case) because they still have Alcine in number 4, when he just lost to Angulo last Saturday and Angulo is still in #7.Comment

He beat the #1 P4P fighter and #1 ranked by the WBC Roberto Garcia for his comeback fight.Comment

This is so true. Sulaiman shows extreme favoritism for Mexican boxers and always has. Often declaring fights that shouldn't be, as title eliminators, and elevating guys for no reason.Comment

Just to sum up why the WBC does that is because if you win a title and retire, upon returning you have a right to bypass all ranked contenders and mandatories to fight the newly crown champ. This is why Vitali was able to fight the new WBC champ Sam Peter for his title even though he was out for several years. I actually like the rule but as far as it concerns Floyd, Floyd really doesn't care about titles so I doubt he would ever exercise that option.Comment
