Well, English is not my first language so I might be wrong. But to me this post talks about Cotto from the *****'s perspective. They said he was shot to pieces before Manny fought him, but if Floyd would fight him now they would say that he was great again, all of a sudden.
It sure would be awesome to see the *****s talking about how great Cotto is. Even though he was shot to pieces before Manny destroyed him.

I would think by now, the idea of 'leftovers' doesn't really matter anymore. It's about making money. If Floyd's already taking a hit for not fighting Pac now and not caring about it, why would he for fighting Cotto? You can't deny how much money this will generate. Hey if Pac can fight Floyd's 'leftovers', then why not Floyd? Even if Floyd doesn't beat Cotto as impressive as Manny, that won't affect us for wanting to see him fight Pac still. If anything, *******s would be more excited to see him fight (Unless of course Floyd once and for all retire)

the cotto fight makes business sense, but cotto is not yet ready for floyd. he needs more tune ups with steward and even so he would still be a heavy underdog.

Cool. No disrespect. I believe very few Floyd fans if any would say Cotto would be rejuvenated if he were to face Floyd. I don't support that view.

Only if Cotto can continue winning and capturing titles at 154, then people would say he's rejuvenated enough to face Manny to avenge the humiliating loss
and Floyd to prove he can still beat the top welterweights.

If Cotto continues to win at the higher weight, then some will conclude that he performs better at Jr. Middleweight than at welterweight.

That's what I'm trying to point out.

Also, assuming this fight will make alot of money, he can compare this to how the Pac/Cotto fight made. If it makes more money than Pac/Cotto, then Floyd has all the bragging rights and will end the purse split issues once and for all. How well he performs against Cotto will keep the hype alive for potential Pac/Floyd 2011 fight.

Maybe this is why Arum has been 'easy' on Floyd as of late? Maybe these are two promoters working together and finding a way how both can benefit? Pac fights Marg, Floyd fights Cotto, and the winners (or even losers) can fight each other. This makes perfect sense coz they can milk Pac and Floyd while they're on top of their game. And after all is said and done, nobody can talk crap about who's ducking who.
floyd isnt allowed 2 fight any1 if he isnt fighting manny pacquiao. he cant say "oh, im not thinking about boxing right now" when pressed about the pacquiao fight and then go and fight some1 else.

Cotto has always been my favorite fighter. However, even before his fight with Pacquiao I always believed that Mayweather would beat Cotto. I didn't care whether Cotto beat Pacquiao by TKO or decision, the thing is...Cotto has always been prone to power punches. Look up his punch stats with Pacquiao, Margarito, Clottey, Mosley, Judah, etc.

I don't care if the fight's at 154 with Emanuel Steward, he's going to lose. My heart will always root for Cotto, but seriously, this is one of the few fights I'd actually be willing to lay real money on (if ever).

All my points Mayweather beats Cotto if it happens...

The problem is the following: It could make Mayweather look bad (even worse) to the general public.

                  a) There's a chance that it won't do as good as Firepower because Cotto's stock has gone down since then regardless of the Foreman win.

                  b) Even if Floyd wins a dominating fight I promise the general public will think Pac's win was more impressive because of their styles.

                  c) Mayweather would be fighting Cotto while Pac would be fighting (and probably dominating) the guy who destroyed Cotto. The casual fan and general public doesn't know or give a **** that styles make fights.

It's all business, if it makes money for Arum then why not? So you're telling me that if Floyd for some reason decided he wants to fight Cotto, you really think Arum would say No? Doubt it. Here's the thing with Mayweather: hate him or love him, you can't deny his fights make money. So for Arum, it's either make money with Floyd fighting Cotto, or keep playing the waiting game with Pac (we all know how that turned out right?)
