I think Floyd vs. Cotto makes sense businesswise

    Bear with me here:

Floyd knows his marketability will go down if he loses his 0. By fighting Cotto, it will be less risky, and believe it or not, his 2nd best moneymaking option. This almost remind me of him fighting Mosley when Pac negotiations fell apart.
Also, assuming this fight will make alot of money, he can compare this to how the Pac/Cotto fight made. If it makes more money than Pac/Cotto, then Floyd has all the bragging rights and will end the purse split issues once and for all. How well he performs against Cotto will keep the hype alive for potential Pac/Floyd 2011 fight.

Maybe this is why Arum has been 'easy' on Floyd as of late? Maybe these are two promoters working together and finding a way how both can benefit? Pac fights Marg, Floyd fights Cotto, and the winners (or even losers) can fight each other. This makes perfect sense coz they can milk Pac and Floyd while they're on top of their game. And after all is said and done, nobody can talk crap about who's ducking who.

First, we don't know what Mayweather is doing. So the whole Cotto thing is just a boxing fans talking. So losing the 0 doesn't even matter because fighting weak opponents won't bring in big money. Big names are generally great fighters, as a result those are big money fights. Floyd isn't worried about the 0.

Second, Bob Arum obviously wants nothing to do with Mayweather. He doesn't want to do business with Mayweather what-so-ever.

Pacquiao isn't even in the equation. Arum runs the business side of his camp. Pacquiao just fights. Pacquiao wants to fight Mayweather and then retire. Arum wants money and keeping Pacquiao away from Mayweather will continue to make him money because Pacquiao won't retire. Arum wants to milk Pacquiao for as long as possible.

So there is no business moves hidden in the shadows. Arum simply wants to milk Pacquiao for as long as he possibly can and if that means keeping him away from Mayweather, then so be it.

As for Mayweather. NO ONE knows what he is doing. That puerto rico thread is just fans talking and speculating. There is nothing happening on Mayweather's part that is open to the media.

It sure would be awesome to see the *****s talking about how great Cotto is. Even though he was shot to pieces before Manny destroyed him.

Arum doesn't want to risk any of his fighters against Floyd.

He was disappointed with Mosley whom he hoped would be Floyd's toughest fight.

Cool. One of the few Pacquiao fans who admit Cotto was damaged gods before he faced Manny. Much props to you.

I don't think he was, and I don't think he is now either. The *****s did though, but if Floyd would fight him I'm sure he would, all of a sudden, be in his absolute prime again in their minds.

Bit of a contradiction there don't you think?

arum isn't gonna let cotto fight floyd unless it somehow guarantees that floyd will fight the marg/pac winner.

Floyd isnt fighting Cotto before he fights Manny, Floyd wont take Manny's leftovers, its Manny who is used to taking Floyd's leftovers. Floyd anything short of stopping Cotto would get more criticized because of how Manny beat him, not a smart business move, had this been an undefeated Cotto then yes, but not now.

No point in a Cotto vs Floyd fight at this point of both Cotto's and Floyd's career. Would be hilarious though watching *****s hype up cotto after all the bashing they have given pac for even considering giving a "shot" cotto a rematch...
