Comments Thread For: Green Vows To Punish Briggs Badly For Being Overweight

IBO cruiserweight champion Danny Green is furious and promised to batter Paul Briggs badly for being well over the agreed-upon catch-weight for tomorrrow's title clash at Challenge Stadium in Perth. Briggs was almost 10 minutes late to Tuesday's weigh-in for the 84kg-limit cruiserweight fight and appeared nervous as he approached the scale.

Awkward one this - I dont really agree with catchweights but if he had agreed to the weight limit - dont be surprised when you get abuse for not sticking to it. Its not professional.

Still the more fights we have at full weight limits the better! Briggs might start a trend!

I dont know much about either fighter - will the extra weight help him?

you know what, I kind of like the move

Briggs agreed to the ***** demand of Green just to get the fight, but in the end, he comes in ''over-weight'', and says hey, I'm fighting the IBO CRUISERWEIGHT champion, and I'm well under the weight limit of 200 lbs, so everything is fine on my end

            that's pretty clever to me

of course maybe he will lose a portion of his purse for this, but it exposes the ******ity and ''pussiness'' of the catch-weight demand

Green is just a blown-up LHW who defends a bull**** worthless belt against weak competition

I actually hope Briggs knock him out

the limit is 200 lbs, not 201...

I wouldn't say it was an early stoppage, just a ***** move to fight a once great fighter turned to a shell of his former self by age

anyway, let's all hope Briggs upsets that fake champion

That is correct, fight at the weight the belt is representing.I like Briggs and in his prime, he was a better fighter than Green, but after such a long layoff, what has he left?.Why is Green bringing someone out of retirement?..I thought you have to be ranked in the top 10 to fight for a title, this just another money spinner!, Green sure does talk alot now......

Briggs shouldn't have agreed to the weight if he couldn't make it, Green will probably steamroll him anyway so no big deal.

Im sick of seeing Danny fight guys who arent ready to be fighting him!!! Not Roy though because imo roy was ready enough for that fight!!! I think Danny should be fighting guys like Steve Cunningham not guys like briggs who hasnt fought in three years!!!
