A lot of people were surprised when 23-year-old WBA junior welterweight champion Amir Khan (23-1, 17 KOs) issued a public challenge to Timothy Bradley (26-0, 11KOs), who holds the WBO's version of the 140-pound crown. Khan, using his personal Twitter account, challenged Bradley to a fight. Golden Boy Promotions CEO Richard Schaefer, who promotes Khan, was not surprised in the least.
Khan will fight the worn down Casamayor or JMM, both smaller fighters naturally, more prestige(names), less risk, which is essential in the way they are shaping Amir's career, he wants respect he will fight for it.
Khan still looks bigger than his opponents, even at 140, he looked a lot bigger than Paulie imo, yet i bet he still! wants to fight small guys.
He will fight the top guys eventually imo, he needs to address Maidana first though, shouldn't be ****ing about with Marquez he's over the hill and not even in his weight class.
1. Bradleys used to fighting bigger guys, but how many of those bigger guys know how to use their height and reach advantage like khan does? Khan relies heavily if not entirely on his physical attributes as we saw against malignaggi.
2. This fight will be a high speed chess match, but more competitive then malignaggi - khan, however, if it goes by the 6th round, THERE IS NO WAY BRADLEY IS GOING TO OUTBOX KHAN. Bradley gets wild at times, and when the word comes from the corner that he needs a ko to win, hes gonna get wild, which he will regret.
3. One thing i noticed is that khan is a nervous starter (bar salita)...he waits to get into his rhythm, then he lifts off like a rocket...i feel in the early rounds, bradley has to mount pressure like a pitbull in order to win.
4. X Factor - hall of fame trainer freddie the main man roach lol... ive always believed tht roach isnt the greatest of coach but the greatest of tactitians out there, his gameplans are masterpieces to be honest...and khan follows them to a tee...even when he had malignaggi gone he didnt get wild, he stuck to his gameplan...this determination to stick to his gameplan will bradley in deep trouble.
5. What i think will happen? rounds 1-5...very even, bradley will try to feel out khan and by rd 3 will realise he cant outbox khan, and the fight might get dirty with bradley trying to use tht buckethead of his...rd 6 onwards, if khan doesnt get caught by tht head lol or even a good shot then rds 6-9 all khan outboxing bradley wearing him down beating him to the jab constantly...rds 9-12 i see bradley getting frustrated trying to knock khan out, which will cost him dearly...i dont see khan knocking out bradley, khan isnt tht big of a puncher and bradley although not the best of chins but has tremendous heart!
