As someone else said Montiel was getting worked by Hasegawa before that big punch and he would've pulled it off if he wasn't fighting so strangely and foolishly aggressive. ****** bastard Hasegawa!

I don't know if I'd say he was getting worked by Hasegawa, though he was behind. I thought one of the round was close (nothing of real significance or note was landed, possibly the second?) and Montiel had started to throw in the fourth.

Hasegawa was fighting aggressively, but to be fair to Montiel, Hasegawa often leaves himself open to be countered when he (Hasegawa) is delivering his punches. Montiel set up the left hook(s) that hurt him initially pretty well.

Either way, a rematch would be welcomed by me I thought the fight was getting interesting in fourth before the stoppage.

I wouldn't count Montiel out. He may be shorter but he doesn't look that much smaller than Nonito. His fist is even larger than Nonito's.

Yeah. He got the surgery done like 3 days after the fight and is already back in the gym for training. He just couldn't spar until recently I believe(going by memory).

He wants to fight again this year, he said a rematch with Montiel in Mexico or Japan would be nice, it doesn't matter. He said he wants to avenge the loss before moving up though. lol

Wow Hozu making a bold move to fight in Mexico. That'll elevate his warrior status if it happens IMO.

In Castillo Coralles 2 the smaller man had the weight advantage because he failed to make weight, ala Conceplcion, and made easy work of the disadvantaged bigger guy who made weight.
