Why are diuretics banned? Partly sor health/safety. But also partly for a level playing field.
performance enhancing in the context of boxing or sports in general is something that can give someone an edge beyond normal natural training. there's only one benefit from taking diuretics...it reduces your weight that's all. it does not really replaces what one can gain from natural training. i don't need to quote anybody or any agency...i'm just using common sense here.

ummm..... those shakes are available commercially. if you see ariza make them , he's just opening up the package and mixing it in.

you act like he's mixing some potion or something.

Not having to work your tail off, or starve your self to make weight doesn't seem like an advantage which is beyond normal training?

Diuretics are also used as masking agents. You are ASSUMING that he was only on the diuretics to lose weight. What if he was (also?) using them to mask other drug use?

Diuretics are abused by athletes to reduce weight quickly in sports where weight categories are involved and to reduce the concentration of prohibited substances by diluting urine.

Rules are rules. Just follow the rules.

yes you can make weight using diuretics but can you perform better? it's actually a disadvantage because your using it to cover up your lack of training that can lead to poor performance.

i'm not dis*****g that diuretics is a banned substance so your rules are rules does not apply here. i'm just saying that diuretics (alone, not mixed with other substances) to reduce weight can not help somebody to perform better. in jcc jr's case, he is a 154 lb fighter who fought that bum at 160 and yet still needs to take diuretics. why? because he didn't train, hence his poor performance. did diuretics helped? yes in reducing weight but not in his performance.

People single Manny Pac out because he seems to take his nutrition to levels most boxers don't.

Has anyone stopped to consider that maybe fighting at a comfortable weight allows Manny to do training and consume and properly process many more healthy nutrients and food items than those who starve themselves to make weight.

There is no "magic shake", it's just a simple case of where Manny Pac is one of few fighters who can consume incredible amounts of nutrition because he doesn't have to worry about cutting weight.

Yes you perform better if you haven't starved yourself to make weight. If you haven't gone to the sauna hours before the weigh in to sweat of an extra 2-3 pounds.

Training and making weight are not the same thing at all.
