  • There is two schools of thought here. Two types of fans even amongst those who are fans of the same fighter, lets break this down.

Floyd Fan X: Appreciates all his boxing talents (defense, offense, conditioning, hard work in the gym) and dismisses peoples criticism that he is "boring", fights like a "coward, chicken, *****". Doesn't subscribe to the school of thought that he is a complete ducker, only fights past-prime opponents, or smaller opponents etc,. and argues against those with that opinion. Generally ignores or doesn't hold against him, his outside-the-ring antics (money throwing, smack talk etc,.) and doesn't let that influence their opinion of the fighters greatness.

Floyd Fan Y: Is a diehard Floyd fan. Supports him in almost every way possible. Agrees with most of what he says, argues constantly on his behalf on how much more money he deserves, or why he shouldn't fight someone based on PPV numbers etc,. Some even go further and in some ways act or wanna be like him, sporting a nice Mayweather signature and avatar picture.

Pacquiao Fan X: Appreciates him as a fighter. Doesn't think that all his accomplishments are due to HGH/steroid use. Sees improvements in his fight game. Thinks he is a good guy, but isn't making the leap that he is a friggin' saint-like nice guy. But doesn't hold it against him either. Might be critical and support the opinion that he should agree to random testing since the other opponent is willing also.

Pacquiao Fan Y: Die hard Pac fan. On average, might be of the same nationality as Pacquiao (I.E. Pinnoy). Defends every one of his excuses for not wanting random testing. More often than not, Fan-Y will make a leap and say that he is The GOAT if not Top 10 ATG because of his Multi-Division titles. Never holds Pacquiao at fault for anything, considers him a saint compared to faul mouth Mayweather's. Resorts to racist remarks and poor grammar cheerleading of Pacquiao.

Conclusion: Floyd Fan-X & Pacquiao Fan-X are more likely to agree with each other on a number of issues regarding all of this, than Floyd Fan-Y and Pacquiao Fan-Y's who are complete and total ****S.

How does this guy have such loyal delusional fans?????

It is beyond the realm of normal thinking.
From what I've been reading, I believe that Pac fans are more fervent than Floyd's. I've come to the conclusion that they believe that Pac is like their living god.

With that said, I believe that Floyd thinks he's bigger than the sport. It would be nice if Pac fight Berto or Pwill (who I think he has no chance of beating) and beat them. If so, Floyd won't have a leg to stand on when negotiation begins for a Pac fight. Someone needs to knock this dude off his pedestal, but if Pac fight Cotto or Margarito, that's not gonna add too much to his leverage for a May 2011 fight with Floyd.

      • floyd said he's not thinking about boxing "at this time"

hopefully, at another time, like oh i don't know, tomorrow maybe, he WILL be thinking about it.

maybe he said it casually, off the cuff. i don't trust anything that comes out of that prima donna's mouth.

        THERE'S STILL HOPE!

But where me and you disagree on is the "let things play out before passing judgement" statement. I gave Floyd the benefit of the doubt during the "silence" period and ignored Arum's chirping about Cotto & Margarito. That's me letting things play out.

After the Top Rank deadline, I still gave Floyd the benefit of doubt, that he was gonna come out real soon and just sign on to the fight out of nowhere. But that time is over now, he's released his statement, no complains about cutoff's for drug testing, no money issues, NOTHING. He's already been on a long break, it's time to put in work now. Pacquiao is his last real challenger of this generation, he gets this over with, then he is entitled & free to do whatever he wants, retire or cherry-pick whoever he wants for big paydays for the rest of his career.

Right now I can't help but think (based on past observations) that he is waiting for Pacquiao to **** UP and perhaps lose like Cotto did. In 2007 after the Hatton fight, the demand was for him to fight the undefeated Cotto. He told Larry Merchant that is taking time off and not gonna let the sport retire him. Fast foward a year & half later, Cotto got beaten up by Margarito, and Margarito got caught cheating. That's two birds killed without ever fighting either one of them.

What makes you think it isn't gonna be the same here. Pacquiao either wins his next one and retires, clearing the room for Floyd, or he losses clearing the room for Floyd. Or he looks horrible in a knockout, drag-out fight and Floyd jumps to sign the fight. That's the way it's looking right now from this side of the fence. HE DID IT ALL TO HIMSELF.
fair enough, but he fought the guy who dusted margarito----and manny fought cotto at 145----for his 147 title----so, he killed 3 birds with one stone----you act as if cotto wasn't beating margarito up until the 10th round----maybe tony was cheating that fight, i can't say, but cotto was beating this guy---it's funny---cotto beats shane right? people argue that shane won----shane beats tony---nobody argues it was a tko-----manny ducks shane through his trainer------to fight the guy that beat shane, but was stopped by margs----so floyd fights and dominates shane, no argument needed there---shane was dusted-----after the first failed negotiation with manny, floyd fights the ww champion, call it fate, call it luck, call it whatever, regretfully, berto lost family members in haiti---so we finally got mosley and floyd--and floyd shut him down-----now, after saying a month ago he's taking a year off, he comes out and says it again, and of course he'll get bashed----

did you bash manny for fighting cotto at 145? did you bash manny for walking away from the fight the first time to fight clottey? and not someone who actually won their last fight? i mean, floyd was bashed for fighting judah wasn't he back in 06 after hhe lost to tata----now, floyd wants to take the rest of the year off-----i don't like it myself, and want to see the fight in november---hell, i wanted it back in march-----people say they are losing interest in this fight now, but that's just temporary interest---because when this fight is announced, people will forget about all of the hateful **** they said and be all about it again, as will you, as will i---------

          • @FeFist... very true, however I KNEW JMM didn't have a chance. He was way too small. I didn't even buy that fight because I knew what the outcome would be. When I watched the replay the following week, I called it exactly. JMM nailed Floyd Jr. with a punch early on and it didn't even faze him. So, I don't consider him fighting a 135 lber in his previous fight a crowning achievement. I understand your reasoning but I beg to differ in the importance of that fight. JMM was just too damn small to make it interesting, however Mosley was the right fight, the man at welterweight...

It's possible that he will fight Pacquiao in March next year. Though I think probably June/July is more realistic as he may take a fight in January/February to stay active.
Pac was the top WW, the Marquez fight was 11 pound higher then he ever fought at.

              Your WAAAY over simplifying it

Another Floyd fan that just doesnt have an excuse for his current actions and now trys to somehow put blame on Pac for the fight not happening in May 2011.
