how about the 37 yr old joe louis that marciano beat? i think louis still beats ali then, he couldn't pressure joe like marciano didComment

Ali would of beat louis. Louis was a flat footed fighter. Ali was quick with his hands and feet. Ali would of used the ring to his advantage and punish louis all 15 rounds.Comment

Originally posted by JUYJUYThat Louis wouldn't beat the Ali that fought Sonny Liston. Although Louis' performance against Marciano is under-rated, yes he was nowhere near his best (abit of an understatement) but he did real good with Rocky at times if I remember rightly.
he came out of retirement because he was broke, joe had retired as the undisputed heavyweight champ ( the only undisputed champ to hold the title for 11 years ). joe louis is the greatest boxer - puncher of all time, but if he fought ali he'd probably lose by decision - joe's footwork wasn't that good, ali's was exceptional. the fight would look a lot like when joe fought billy conn and was getting outboxed until conn decided he could stand and trade with louis. when he woke up, he realized his mistake, ali woulnd't make a mistake like thatComment

You guys are morons. Ali by knockout in the eighth round? Louis was in a league of his own at heavyweight. He had skills that haven't been seen in the division since, and yes I mean Ali included.
Ali was **** on the inside. I love the guy as a fighter and a man but he just couldn't punch his way out of a paper bag on the inside. Louis would have cut off the ring using his patient plodding footwork and a jab that was stiffer and much harder than Ali's, gotten inside on The Greatest and punished the hell out of his body, throwing vicious fight ending shots to the head if Ali were to give him only 1/4 of a second of an opening.
You talk as if Ali was the superior boxer when in fact Louis threw punches with much better technique. Just watch them fight back to back and you'll see how sloppy most of Ali's punches were (especially his uppercuts). Louis's jab was awesome, better than Foreman's, better than Holmes's. The guy only needed the tiniest opening to hurt you bad and then'd he'd slip into finishing mode and throw the nastiest, smoothest, quickest shots imagineable. When he wanted to let lose on you there was nothing slow about Joe Louis.
If Ali wins its by the narrowest of decisions and only due to him going on the bicycle and running for 15 rounds and it would be Ali who'd be out of breath and bruised up at the end.Comment
