For those bring up Clottey lets get this **** straight for a second. Manny had to get a March 13th opponent so he could fight before the elections. The fight was official dead the first week of January (if my memory serves me correctly)

So lets do some basic math here.

From the time the Floyd vs Pac fight was official dead, till the March 13th date was around 10 weeks.

A camp usually takes anywhere from 8-12 weeks.

Now lets say Team Pacquiao did an 8 week training camp. This would have only given Arum a 2 week window, to find an opponent, work out the details and get the fight signed off. What sense does it make to go out there and try to negotiate with another promoter when your working with such a short window? This would have put team Pac at a disadvantage because a guy like shaw or goosen could see this and get more than what they should.

The smartest thing to do, and what any sane person would do, is make a quick in house fight because you are doing everything in house. Now if Team Pacquiao had a few months to find someone then using the Clottey fight is justifiable, but it wasn't and Arum did the right thing with all things considered.

Clottey: That is a good point that I had also thought (got Clottey on short notice) of but the Floyd fans can't get seem to grasp ..... Also, in-retrospect, Clottey fight was too one sided but before the fight, many had thought Clottey was too big/strong for Manny.

....... imagine, for fans that have seen Floyd sitting at 147 for 5-6 years and missed many opportunities to fight the top 147 lbs around and now complain about Manny's opponents is ridiculous.

Some of those names being thrown around for Manny may sound good until you really think about what is best for Manny at this point. While many might not like Cotto or Margo fight, it makes sense for Manny because it gives him a historic 8th title.

After that fight, if Manny doesn't fight Floyd, he will go for some of the other guys mentioned .....

I don't know what others meant when they mentioned Clottey.....

..... but to me it was the manner of the loss, not the choice of him as an opponent.

I was refering to all of the trouble that Clottey went to, when he went out of his way to make Manny look good
