he is almost twenty...........barrera-morales, champs at 21, its not unusual for mexicans to hit the top rankings early(and morales fought ****ing zaragoza...).................stop overhyping his age.....

You want a 19 year old to step up against grown men who have been fighting their whole life?

Let's put Benavidez Jr. against Margacheato at 147, lol.

You have to build up his name, reputation, and record to make more money in the future.
I am sure that today Benavidez knocks Maidana, Bradley and probably Alexander and Khan

Those two were great, great fighters though and almost anyone is going to come up short if compared to them. The vast majority of boxers didn't face top-quality opposition while that young.

He has years left to develop and learn his trade. I think it's in his best interests to stay at his current level for at least another 2 fights and if it ends up being years before he fights world-class opposition then it doesn't matter because he's so young and he still has some flaws that he needs to improve upon. He's a good fighter but it's too soon to throw him in the deep end.

he's not morales. he's not barrera.

let his handlers handle it how they see fit for now.

i ain't gonna criticize a 19 yr. old kid being led slowly. (not that he's going at a slow pace)

in a few years maybe but not yet.

After the Hatton fight he needs to step up to a lower level contender. He's also about to be 20 and has been boxing since 15 so the age thing isn't as big of a deal to me.

He's being brought along quite nice, the reality is his handlers need to continue being patient b/c he still might be growing. He may be a full junior middleweight when he's done filling out and he's not ready for the elite quite yet. Someone like Cintron or David Estrada would love to pop his cherry b/c they know he not schooled enough yet no matter how many fights he's had already

he is a 19 year old with 34 fights though... unlike Benavidez.
So i dont think stepping up the competition is such an outrageous request...

Benavidez will surely have been in a couple world title fights by that point, dont you think?
