Why was Hatton ever rated as P4P fighter ?

Hatton was a face first brawler who relied on dirty tactics to rough people up. He faced a series of C class fighters and Shot fighters like Tszyu and Castillo. Hattons best win is Mallinaggi at most a B class fighter.

Hatton had no defence and was tagged on a regular basis. Hatton was nearly KOed several times. His style was horrible to watch basically looking to punch himself out then clinch.

Yes he had a great fanbase but he was a very limited fighter and has to be one of the most overrated fighters going.

What did he do that made people rate him as one of the ten best fighters in the sport ?

You've obviously made your mind up that he wasn't a top ten P4P fighter, but the simple answer is that he beat Kostya Tszyu, who had one loss, and was the clear champion at 140. Tszyu also just came off beating Sharmba Mitchell's ass in a rematch of the two best people in the division.

Anybody who beats Kostya Tszyu is a P4P fighter.....coupled with a few more belted champs like Collazo, Mausa and Urango seals it.
