Does Rafa have a chance?

I know people are hyping this fight up but for me, I think it's going to be an early KO.

First off, I think Rafa is old and done, he's 35 years old and been in way too many wars.

Second, he has to come up in weight to fight the bigger, faster JuanMa.

I think this fight would have been much better 2 years ago at 122lbs or 126lbs but I just think now it's way too late.

Izzy hurt and knocked Rafa down and Izzy is nowhere the puncher or has the size JuanMa does.

I just don't understand why boxing continues to feed us these bull**** hyped up fights when this is nothing but a tune up for JuanMa so we can see him and Gamboa go at it finally.

The only chance Rafa has is surviving the first 3 rounds. I don't even know if he has the power at 126 to threaten JuanMa even with JuanMa's suspect chin.

Seems to be the way of the game these days. Young fighters seek legitimacy and fighting other young fighters is often not credited enough, as these days the words "bum" and "tomato can" is thrown around too often. In a sense, they are forced to seek out past greats or names on the slide to add credence to their own name, otherwise people will always ask, "who have they fought?"

Seems to me that as fans we are partly to blame, since we expect our young up-and-comers to challenge themselves, while at the same time not giving them their due for fighting the ranks.

I agree with what you said but I also think with JuanMa at 30 fights into his career is a little past due.

He could have made a fight within the last 2 years with Rafa, Izzy or Caballero so we could see where he is at.

Now we will have to see him beat up on an old Rafa until we really see the fight we want and that's vs Gamboa.

You have to have enough respect for Marquez to say he has a chance, but in this situation the youth and athleticism usually wins out, and for good reason.

What I find funny is that they are going to make a big deal about it and give Lopez full credit. Yet they are going to turn around once again and criticize someone like DLH for beating Whitaker/Chavez.

Of course Marquez has a chance,he's a world class fighter & straight up,Juanma hasn't faced anyone close to Marquez's caliber!!He has more technical skill than Juanma,Juanma is just more athletic!!If the fight goes the distance,the longer it goes,the better for Marquez!!

Fight should have been made years ago.

Rafa vs Vázquez again is pointless. So the next big cash cow is PR vs Mex rivalry.

Too a certain extent but the size and power difference will be too much. IF (that's a big if considering how much Rafa get's hit) he can survive the first 3 rounds or so, he has a better chance but JuanMa is too big and too strong for him in the end.

JuanMa stops him early. Rafa doesn't have the legs anymore and JuanMa is simply too good at this point. Anyone gauging how he would do by how he did against Izzy last fight is going to be sorely dissappointed.
