Margs was already popular with people even before Cotto. As you could see more people were cheering for Margs when he fought Cotto.

Doesn't change the fact that Margarito had beaten him. Margarito didn't really have an amateur experience as well. Also in that fight Margarito was suppose to be the fighter that was suppose to of lost to Sergio by the way. They saw a guy with 3 losses already.

margarito had been a pro for 6 years and went on to fight santos for the world title one year later, martinez had been a semi pro soccer player and had only been boxing for 2 years not to mention this was his first fight outside of argentina

Umm... the crowd was 60/40 for Margarito but the fight was in Vegas. If that fight was in NY it would have been 100% Cotto, let's get real. BTW, I live in Vegas and Mexican is the biggest boxing population out here. More PR's are moving in but compares nothing to the Mexican population. IDC how many losses Marg had, beating a guy with 16 wins doesn't impress me much IDC who it is.
