      C. How is blood doping and Erythropoietin commonly used?
Typically, blood doping involves removing 2 to 4 units (900-1800ml) of blood from an individual. The RBCs are spun and separated from plasma, then stored in glycerol. After a 2-3 month time delay, which allows for restoration of RBC in the athlete, and about 3-5 days before competition, the RBC are "washed" and reinfused. Because of the storage in glycerol, the RBC are well preserved. Donor blood can be used, but risk is increased due to the possibility of blood borne pathogens. The benefit of donor blood is that the individual does not have to go through the period of regeneration of their own RBCs.

3-5 days before performance. please shut the **** up about it not being effective 2 weeks out.

        Victor Conte:

“All anabolic steroids are similar to testosterone. If you test often enough over a sufficiently long period, you can see where the perks are. What athletes are doing now is using low-dose testosterone. The gels and the creams will clear in a day. Oral testosterone will clear in about four days. Water-based injectable testosterone will clean in about 10 days.

“With intense training and a two-week program of anabolic steroids or low-dose testosterone, you can get a significant advantage in terms of strength and power.”

Now, the drug EPO increases your percentage of red blood cells. If you start out at 40 percent, in a two-week time frame or less, you could increase that to 50 percent. That’s a 25 percent increase in the percentage of red blood cells. Oxygen molecules attach themselves to the hemoglobin, and that means 25 percent more oxygen is being delivered to the muscle tissue. It also means the metabolic waste byproducts, like carbon dioxide, ammonia and lactic acid, are transported out 25 percent faster. That gives you a huge edge in training and especially in the later rounds of a fight.”

“I think you could do blood testing up to five days of a fight with no physical detriment to a participant,” Conte says. “A compromise of 10 days would be all right. But as soon as you go 14 days or more, that’s enough time to use EPO and build up your red blood cell count.

Note that according to conte, you need two weeks of INTENSE TRAINING.

That kind of training simply isn't possible in the two weeks just prior to a fight. Maybe a month or so BEFORE THE FIGHT but not just two weeks right before.

Note that according to Conte, he was speaking specifically about anabolic steroids. Note that he mentions other forms and doesn't use intense training as a caveat.

Excellent! Now we have a contender for a beneficial doping method. And for the record, i never said that there WAS NOTHING THAT WAS EFFECTIVE TWO WEEKS OUT.

I was actually ASKING if anyone could give me proof of such. Man. Why are so many people here SO ANGRY? You guys aught to loosen up a bit.

The good thing about blood doping is that though there are no tests currently available to determine it for sure (i guess that includes even the Floyd's random blood tests), based on the link you gave yourself, its easy enough to detect blood doping by the size of the puncture wounds on the athlete since they obviously require larger needles for transfusions.

A simple solution is to require Pac to submit to a daily physical four or five days before the fight to check if he has the puncture wounds obtained through blood doping. They could always add that to the contract.

Ok, so that's ONE doping method that can be applied. (funny thing. it CAN'T be detected by floyd's blood tests). But its apparently easy to detect such doping since the SIZE of the needle is that its obvious to the naked eye.

So does anybody else have another doping method in mind? I'd be happy to receive more, though i am satisfied with just one.

              ESPECIALLY this one.

I LIKE this one since even without testing, you could ACTUALLY SEE if a person was blood doping. And given the fact that Pac doesn't want blood taken from him, he would have no excuse whatsoever to have any kind of needle puncture on him. ITS PERFECT!

Anabolic steroids are used by athletes to train harder and for longer periods of time. It will be useless 14 days before the fight.

Well then you cannot say that intense training ISN'T a caveat as well. I could easily assume that all the other forms require intense training just as well as i can assume that it doesn't. Conte's statement in this regard is vague and privy to interpretation by BOTH sides.

                  BUT.

It is more logical to assume that intense training is needed since that's what the drugs are used for in the first place. To allow you to train more vigorously compared to when you are not taking it. Why else do you think you would have to take it AT LEAST two weeks?

If all one needed for a boost was to take it on the day of the fight, then Conte would have mentioned that as well. But he didn't. His prerequisite was a period of time of intense training which in this case is two weeks.

Cyclists won't even consider intense training ONE DAY BEFORE THEY PERFORM. Its just not common sense.

How is he lying? Toning down and shedding weight aren't necessarily contradictory. It just means he's not working himself as hard and at the same time not eating as much as he normally does to shed some weight.

Boxers making weight generally go through the same process.

Not to mention actually counter productive. Just imagine intense training JUST THE DAY BEFORE A FIGHT.

Then multiply that by 14 days. Intense training for 14 days with fight night right after the 14th day of INTENSE TRAINING.

A boxer would be definitely less than 100% on fight night if he does something that foolish.
