You sir, have no respect for the sport of boxing if you don't know what Tyson did for it...

What exactly did he do for boxing?

Pretty much zero reputable boxing analysts have him as a top 5 heavyweight.

I clicked on the link expecting to see some attempt at an answer to my question.

So again... what did he do for the sport of boxing? He made old Trevor Berbick shake in his boots, beat up geriatric Larry Holmes, and knocked out a cruiserweight in 91 seconds.

His contemporaries like Whitaker and Chavez were the true greats of the 80s. Tyson was a flash in the pan who got knocked out by a glorified journeyman.

If there ever was a fighter that was a flash in the pan it was Buster Douglas not Mike Tyson. Tyson won the WBC and the WBA again after doin a three year bit for something he never did. How many fighters could have done that? Tyson would have knocked Chavez's punkazz to the moon. Are you serious or just actin dumb? Chavez? and Whitaker? shouldn't even be mentioned in the same breath as a Mike Tyson.

People like you didn't like Tyson because he didn't kowtow. He said stuff other fighters were scared to say. That's why you hate him. Mike Tyson was a threat to everything you believe in.

So asking the question "what did Tyson do for boxing is probably the dumbest question in boxing that's ever been ask! Tyson RULED the mid 80's till the end of that decade. What a dumb-azz question.

Tyson brought interest back to boxing. He was well known all across the entire planet. He's met heads of state of almost every major country. He was celebrated in Russia, he met Gobahev. They got comic books of him in Japan where he was also celebrated, Netendo made a game called "Mike Tyson punch out" back in the 80's. Tyson knows the prime minister on Italy, he's been to Instanbul. He's been all over the globe. What did Tyson do for boxing? Are you serious?

After the Sugar Ray Leonard, Tommy Hearns, Marvin Haglar era was over Tyson brought LIFE back into boxing

You must be new to the world of boxing. Tyson's presence was sought after all over the world. Educate yourself before you post.

Tyson had already beat up and knocked out fighters that had ALREADY beat-up and knocked out Buster Douglas. Why take Buster Douglas serious?
Nobody did. If you're lookin for a flash in the pan, look at Buster Douglas.

Just like everybody else Tyson just took him too lightly and he didn't train properly. Anybody that knows boxing knows that. Tyson was a 42-1 favorite. Tyson stayed up late, he had women all up in his room until the fight, he may have mis-underestimated Buster, but Tyson was no flash in the pan. That title forever belongs to Buster Douglas.

Mike Tyson ruled the 80's. Known as the baddest man on the planet, and he didn't get beat by anybody except himself with hubris. That's what really brought him down. he stop training the way he used to and thought he could just show up to a fight without training properly. Don King had him fire Kevin Rooney which was one of the the biggest mistakes Tyson ever made.

Buster got knocked out in the 3rd round in his first defense of the title. Who could beat Mike in his prime? NOBODY and everybody knows it.

Mike Tyson was exciting and fun to watch even when he got knocked out.

What did Tyson do for boxing? What a dumbazz question.

way to get your negative comments in about a definite hall of famer and great boxer

like every dominant black heavyweight in America Tyson had a hard time...

im sure you discount all that as mumbo jumbo from your poor position but..

there are so many people that love and respect this man

if it wasnt for the media all you would know about this man is his boxing which is all you really need to be ****ing worried about.

Guess we should all listen to a nobody like you who hasnt accomplished a whole hell of a lot.

Or if you care to disclose your great accomplishments to the many Tyson fans here the floor is yours.
