mainstream wise, no pac was not that until after the oscar fight. within the sport of boxing pac was already a star before the oscar fight. stop beating around the modesty bush, marquez fame the bulk of it, came from the pac fight.

Marquez earned everything he's ever had. He won three world titles, and all his losses, except the Mayweather fight were questionable (I can not find the John fight online). You said yourself that Morales, Barrera, and Hamed didn't want none, because he was too damn good and Pac was the only with balls to fight him.

Marquez, of course owes some degree of fame for fighting Pac. But the bulk of Marquez's fame came from going life and death with Pac twice in fights that could have gone either way and many people believed he won both. Pac didn't make anyone. Marquez made himself.

Correction and this without hate but Morales beat the **** out of Pac that first fight and JM did a number as well after pac couldnt finish him after knocking him down three times in the first round.And in the JM rematch they went at it again and it was a close one to call.And too say that Marquez wasnt in Barreras or morales level its an understatement because Both of them and hamed ducked Marquez for years!!!!
