He's not had a win for over a year, and despite his (deserved) reputation, I think people are overrating him if they think he is still prime and could easily handle the likes of Katsidis and Funeka.
Is it possible that he's just as good now as he was 2 years ago? Sure. Is it possible that he beats the rest of 135 clearly (ie by KO or wide decision)? Yup. But until we see him in the ring again, I think people should keep in mind how much Hopkins declined inbetween the Pavlik fight and the Jones rematch. Sometimes guys get old, and maybe JMM has. I'm sure the Floyd fight didn't help either, he took some punishment in that one.
I figure you probably were talking about how he is regarded in terms of achievements/how good he was in his prime. I decided to answer it my own way anyway
How much pre-Pacquiao Marquez have you watched, TS?
You know he's kind of small at lightweight and still handed Casamayor and Diaz the first stoppage losses of their respective careers, right? And please don't come back with the retort that Casa was shot and Diaz was junk.
There isn't a top guy out there who isn't overrated by a bunch of people.
